Cute little diner right on the highway. Breakfast was pretty decent, and I’m glad we tried it out. The place was packed, so the service was a bit slow, but the ladies were super friendly.

Overall a good first experience. Diner appears to be newly open and renovated. Service was quick and friendly. My burger was good, but not great. I could tell the onion rings were from the box, not homemade. My wife really enjoyed her taco salad. My strawberry milkshake was handmade with real ice cream, so that was nice to see. Biggest con – the bathrooms smelled like sewer and weren’t that clean.

Tried there breakfast today and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Cowboy Skillet which featured steak, green peppers, hashbrowns and mushrooms with your choice of 2 eggs on top and toast. The portion size was large as I could not finish. The price was very reasonable $9.99 and the service was friendly. Definitely recommend a trip to Wathena to give this place a try.

This was the third time I’ve been here and each time I’ve gone I’ve had such a shockingly amazing experience, so I figured I’d write a review. From the moment I got there to the moment I left, I encountered smiles, friendliness, and excellent customer service. They truly understand that customer service isn’t about being polite, but creating a warm, home-like environment with a welcoming and cheerful atmosphere. I ordered the grilled catfish fillet, and when it came I was once again astounded by their portions. They really have food that you love at prices you’ll love more. One of our party had an issue with their order, and the waitress handled it incredibly promptly with a wonderful attitude. My only regret about our visit today is that I didn’t ask her name so I could mention it in this review. If you’re thinking about dining at Star 36 Diner, my only advice to you is that you should have decided to go there sooner! 11/10, highly recommend.

A surprisingly varied menu for a tiny restaurant. Ample portions of flavorful food. Especially recommend the chicken fried steak. Hamburgers are huge and tasty. Pasta dish I had was a bit bland for my tastes but probably fine for many mid westerners.

First time here, but not the last… Star 36 Diner is everything you could want in a diner, just one look at the vast menu items will make your mouth water! I had the chicken melt sandwich with fries and my wife had (In her words), the best Chicken Philly sandwich she has ever had! We are doing breakfast the next time we visit, I will update this post I am most certain!

It’s a little homely dinner, nothing fancy. The food is your average home cooked meal. It’s not the best in the world but if you been working hard all day and don’t want to cook you can get a decent meal at a decent price.

What a great place to eat! My first time. Delicious home cooking, generous portions, reasonably priced and great service. Plenty of options on the menu. Ate there at lunchtime and it was steady business. Ordered extra for take home! Nice sized back room with extra seating for a larger crowd. Will be taking avantage of that feature next weekend! Star 36 is a nice surprise! Well worth the short drive from St Joe!
