Only a couple of fast food smash burgers around Evansville these days. I’ll go with “average” for my rating. The chili has an odd flavor and needs more chili powder because it didn’t taste or even smell like chili. The kids working were doing a good job.

This is my favorite restaurant on earth. If you grew up in the 80s or early 90s eating at a long-gone G.D. Ritzy’s location like I did, you’ll find that the Evansville locations are exactly like your fuzzy childhood memories of G.D. Ritzy’s. The food always arrives quickly, yet always tastes fresh, and the lacy-edge hamburgers are perfect. Many places attempt them, but no one but G.D. Ritzy’s gets them just right. I make at least one trip here from Detroit per year, and usually more just to eat a meal or two at G. D. Ritzy’s.

We stepped into GD during an all day motorcycle ride. The food was decent and the place was clean enough. But the service was weird. Maybe it’s just an Indiana thing. But the gal at the counter didn’t say a single word when we walked up to place our order. Just a blank stare. So speak up when you visit GD or you might go hungry.

The food was ok. However the oil used for the fries was a getting old. (When a fry comes out brown the oil is old) The Ice cream was Great as usual.

We have been going to ritzys for years and it has been steadily declining. Finally, tonight I got a cold burger. I thought maybe it was because we got it to go, but on inspection it was still very pink. Same with my husband’s. I decided against posting the picture of what I spit out. I called and the phone went unanswered for 2 rounds of calling. I will call and speak with a manager in the morning and update this post based on what they say.

Stopped in after a wedding for a double cheese burger. Food came fast and was fresh and tasted great. Never had a problem eating here

I decided to give this place a try on a whim and it was delicious. I only wish I would have tried the ice cream, but I filled up on the great burger and fries.

My husband and I have never had a bad experience at the First Ave. location. Our fish sandwiches and fries are always cooked perfectly (and never soggy). The last time we went, the girl working the window took her time to read back the items in the bags to ensure they had gotten everything and was very friendly and professional. Also their ‘flavored’ colas are the best. We love going there for a quick, inexpensive and delicious meal!

Ordered 7-way chili through drive-thru. Got home to eat it and yuk! First off I didn’t know I had to order eating utensils and after retrieving my own spoon I tasted it. I’ve been eating 7-way chili for years. This tasted like that’s how long it sat on the burner–for years. It was burned. When you have something burned, you can’t get rid of that taste even if you don’t scrape the bottom of the pan. I tried to call to let them know but, of course, they don’t answer. Bad enough you serve burned food but then don’t answer the phone to make it right. Should have gone to Wendy’s, my first choice.
