I’ve been wanting to eat at this place and finally had the opportunity. Although, its Yelp rating was a 2/5 stars, it’s always busy, so, I thought I’d give it a try. The food was tasty and did have flavor. The meat portion in the tacos was adequate and it was cooked and seasoned well. There are several toppings available for garnish which, further added to the flavor profile. However, the “tortilla” shell which was used was overcooked, hard and fell apart while eating. This definitely impacted my ability to enjoy my meal. I would have preferred the more traditional taco shell made with corn. The dining area was clean as were the tables. The staff was personable and friendly greeting customers as they approached the counter. The prices are reasonable and appear to mirror those of similar establishments. Overall, the meal was good but their use of a flour tortilla instead of corn will definitely not bring me back.

Today was my first time at any Cafe Rio. As I approached the counter to order, I started to notice how unsanitary the whole food prep, counters, floor, utensils, top to bottom where. I was afraid to order my food. I ordered anyways, glad I did. The food was good. The rice was a bit firm, maybe that’s the recipe? The service was nice and helpful. I did notice the young man taking my order had an ear bud in. If the kitchen and dining area was cleaner, I definitely would go back.

Gave Cafe Rio a second chance on St. Rose Parkway because everyone has a bad day. We won’t be going back, it’s a mess, in disarray and frankly dirty! The manager was present but displayed no management knowledge. It was 3:00 and a there was no chicken, sour cream, basically all the binds were empty. There was more food on the counter and floor! We counted 4 employees “working “and one eating, We were ignored for a full 5 minutes while an employee caught up with a friend who was in line ahead of us. we should have left but needed to get my ill mother her favorite food.

Visited and found the restrooms is terrible shape. Mind you the restaurant just opened and I arrived at 1130am. This tells me that the restrooms weren’t touched since the night before. Floors need mopping, urine stains on the seat, toilet seat cover dispenser caked with dirt. Wall where old soap dispenser was not fixed. It makes me wonder what’s happening in the kitchen. Not to mention that the dining floor was not even touched since the night before. Need to be more conscience of health code standards and customers who may not continue to patronize this location. Also the person working the cut station need to pull his pants. Super unprofessional
