One word. Fantastic. Stopped on the way to Detroit at Grand Rapids, just on the exit. The Biryani, both Veg(me) and Chicken were delicious and the Best mango lassi ever. Punjabi Restaurant feel. Loved it. Highly Recommended.

Now under new management, called Curry Nights. Went to lunch for the buffet, very good and will be going back. $10 a head, item selection was good, fresh naan and tandoori chicken for free. Honestly, for $10, it was fantastic.

Looks like they are going out of business and are serving up whatever is left over. Went on a Sunday evening and should have heeded the warning sign. One lonely couple. Next came the chicken soup which seemed to be one of their curry sauces (Rogan Josh I think) watered down and served as soup. Then came the chicken tandoori which was dried up and marinated IN nothing more than red coloring. The main courses/curries were not bad but the rice was Uncle Ben’s boiled rice. I think cheap Basmati is the standard even in fast food Indian joints. Finally the bill. The total from all the dishes was about $53. They Charged $74. When I inquired what was the extra $21, the waiter told me it was the “new” VAT (Value Added Tax). I requested the owner to discuss and finalized that this was a scam. They charged me $53 (I didn’t even have to pay tax). My only question is whether this was perpetrated by the owner or the waiter. My opinion, as I stated in the beginning, is that this place is on the brink. BE CAREFUL.

Great food, but an odd place…seems they are trying to serve both a sports bar customer base as well as the indian restaurant customer base. Also, really cold, paying the heat bill is just part of doing business. I’ll go again for sure because the food was fantastic, but I’ll probably wait until it warms up.

One of the more authentic Indian restaurants in GR. Slow and somewhat apathetic service. Lunch buffet is totally not worth the price so if you go here, order off the menu. The chicken biriyani here is very good.

Absolutely top notch. Went in for takeout. Great service and a friendly chat with the owners while I waited. Everything was delicious; especially the old standby – butter chicken. The place itself is this cool mondo bizzarro mixture of Indian restaurant and sports bar, LOL. Well done.

I ordered take out last week and spent $38 on dinner. I ate my fill and as my boyfriend was eating he found an earwig in the garlic naan. I emailed the restaurant directly to ask for a refund with no response at all. Needless to say, I will not order from Royal Palace of India anymore.

The butter chicken is AMAZING. The service is slow though and our server kept forgetting when I asked for more drinks. The food is really really good though. Just be prepared to be there a while.

This is one of the best restaurants in Grand Rapids and the prices are reasonable. I could eat here every day. If you haven’t been here yet, you are missing out.
