After reading several of the reviews for this place, we decided to give it a try. We went around 3pm, so it only had 2 other booths filled. The interior was very nice and clean and we were seated almost immediately. To keep things short, the service here was excellent and I wish I could give them a higher star count, but the food was either extremely bland or ultra-salty. We ordered a combo dinner with Chow Mien Chicken, egg roll, Won-ton soup, deep fried prawns, pork fried rice, and sweet and sour pork. The egg roll and won-ton soup was like are good if you enjoy a ton of salt. The sweet and sour pork was actually somewhat decent, but the bottom half of the bowl was soggy from soaking in the sauce. The top portion was good however. If you get this, ask for the sauce on the side. Everything else required either the hot yellow mustard or red chili paste to impart some kind of flavor onto the food. My mother-in-law is Chinese and from China, so I know good authentic Chinese food when I taste it. This place does not qualify and we will not be returning.

Service was friendly, but very slow. Food portions were generous, but dishes lacked character and were either way too salty and/or incredibly bland. Fried shrimp tasted like deep-fried matter and nothing else. Fried rice tasted like it had been sitting in a steamer tray all day. Chow mein was covered in a weird, overly-salty goop. Don’t get me wrong–I wasn’t expecting authentic when I went in, but I was at least expecting something with at least a modicum of flavor that wasn’t salt. I will not be ordering food here again.

Jade Palace is by far our favorite Chinese restaurant in Tacoma. We have been going here for years and have never been disappointed with the food or service. We typically get take-out, but have dined in a few times and have enjoyed that experience as well. We love their sweet and sour chicken, and their chow mein is fantastic! I would highly recommend it.

Surprisingly good! The seating is private private and comfortable, the staff is friendly, the food is fresh and well prepared. The portions are ample sized, and the tea is a served hot. We had the Almond Chicken and Shrimp chow mein. We will back!

Ordered 2 orange chicken dinners and 1 general tsao….the menu price online and the menu price online….vast difference. It was 72.00…yes that is right!! $72.00 …told them good bye. I don’t pay for foolishness like that…is the food coming fresh via plane from China? Doubt it…
