Let’s get in to it, I was sent here to specifically review the food, service, and atmosphere. This is not a new building we are aware.. but it could have had more effort put into it… it was previously a seafood place for years. Layout is the exact same..which is bad. The bar/counter as you walk in is such a turn off. It blocks the welcome factor. The music was so loud, it was a Dj or karaoke night. Or maybe it’s like this every night not quite sure, hard to ask when you can’t hear anyone sitting next to you much less the “waiter” The flashing lights need a trigger warning ⚠️ upon being seated on that side due to potential epileptic children or customers overall. It was too loud, and so unpleasant… as you sit there you question yourself if you are at a restaurant or a club with food.. but it’s suppose to be a restaurant not a club/night club as stated on Google. Then the person mainly singing came around shaking the hands of people eating.. no thank you ..although a nice gesture.. we are eating. But before that we had to yell our order to the waiter, and I could not believe the serving of chips and “sauce” one weird orange sauce, and one green sauce, and one basket of chips.. for 4 grown adults that’s a no no. How can four people share that comfortably. One person in the party ordered a beer…and it was room temp so ice had to be asked for. The place was almost empty too..so that was my first and concern considering it was 8:35 on a Saturday. So the food came out, and when I saw that plate I looked at it, and thought I was being pranked. The meat was a joke, as in amount… 3 pieces of beef fajita in each flour taco (potential excuses I thought of they may come up with is that it is or was weighed, portion control (yeah right)… it was a joke), the way it was cut, the way it was presented… the tortillas were way off recipe. A store like H‑e‑b… blows the tortillas at this joke of a restaurant I had on that plate, out the water. All this place did was buy or lease the building, threw on some cheap paint and opened up. The food is a joke.. and they know it. The only thing that is somewhat saving them is alcohol..and being open til midnight (maybe). As a local guide I must be honest. I always am honest… because money is worked for, and you don’t want to spend it on this nonsense. This is not Tex Mex nor quality Mexican restaurant food (excellent example: Lopez Mexican Restaurant in Stafford,Texas has the best Tex Mex you will find for miles… add your gas and you still will pay less for more food, great food, and professionalism and respect for your money)..(again Lopez is the closest restaurant, and you will get your hard earned money’s worth.) Upon leaving which is the another most important part… there was not one single thank you, not one. There were some workers behind the tall bar/counter who just stared as we walked out, they do not care for customers at all. Just such a shame, and an embarrassment to the Tex Mex culture. D@mn

This building used to be Wharton Seafood and Steak. The building was empty for a couple of years. Los Charritos did a wonderful job updating the decor and revamping the entire building with bright colorful paint. The food was delicious. I had the Friday special – Chili relleno with beef. And our waitress was great!

Yes, it did indeed take a few minutes to wait for a table, but once we were taken to our table the waiter took good care of us. Our drinks were brought and our order was taken. We ordered tacos al carbon and a cheeseburger. We didn’t wait long. The burger was juicy. The flour tortilla was delicious and the beef fajita was well seasoned. The rice and beans are good too. We were very happy with the staff. Everyone was busy, but the waiters and waitresses, the staff cleaning the table, and I am guessing the supervisor were all attentive. We were running out of napkins and we got them without asking. I noticed flat screens were up on the wall. Great idea for those who love to watch the game. It was not loud. Great for families. Great for gatherings. For Date nights. I will say this, I saw how organized they were and attentive. Keep up the good work, and don’t be discouraged staff at Los Charritos. We will be going back. Welcome to Wharton County.

The Green sauce is the absolute BEST !! I can not say the same for the rest of the food. Jalapeño poppers were not cooked all the way through. The Molcahete for 1 came out with warm to cold meat and no sizzle from the fajitas. No music gave this place a not welcoming vibe. Service was pretty ok. The guy working was friendly and helpful when ordering.

If you want to wait…this is the place for you. Slow at everything and Food wasn’t good at all, and there was a limited menu. My date’s shrimp enchiladas looked like they bought the shrimp in the frozen section of HEB and just added extra cheese to make up the difference. And I about chocked on my flautas from all the hard grizzle from the meat. And the odor I kept smelling was like the toilet was backed up. Just horrible. We definitely will not ever be back. And do not recommend to anyone. They definitely were not ready to open.

The food was pretty good. Service was a bit on the slow and forgetful side. Asked for a margarita 2 times before they remembered to bring it and ranch 3 times before they remembered it. It was a nice atmosphere all in all.

Took 1/2 hr to be greeted at the door. Then the host was absolutely non-communicative. The service was slow and food alright. Bones in the chicken enchilada. Would order the tacos to take out. The tacos are delicious.

Complementary chips & “salsa’s” were merely ok. I had Pollo “El Charitto” that was absolutely delicious, though the refried beans were only passable. My husband had a Chicken Quesadilla which he said was delicious, but he too was unimpressed by the beans. He did compliment the Spanish rice stating that it “actually had FLAVOR.” (Something that is apparently lacking in most Spanish rices. Not being a rice fan in general, I usually order double beans.) Overall, we will DEFINITELY try it again! IMHO it far outweighs the other 2 “big” Mexican restaurants (current & former) in town.
