Portions were more than generous! We tried several on the menu and loved the fish taco and we burrito. Sauces and assorted picked were very appetising. Would come back if we are in the Santa Barbara area.

Taqueria La Katrina is a nice change to have in Santa Cruz as far as taqueria’s go. The menu is different from all the other places in the city.

We stopped here on our way back to LA and we loved it. The food was amazing. I recommend getting the torta regular. We also ordered tacos de pastor, chicken salad, and much more. Our server Marcos was super friendly and the rest of the staff too. Highly recommend to anyone stopping by or any locals.

10/10 salsa bar. Best green salsa I’ve ever had. The quesabirria is pretty grande and super delicioso. Everything tastes really fresh. My new fave taqueria in Santa Cruz

I was disappointed by the super nachos with grilled chicken. They were very bland as thet lacked salt, lime, chili, and cilantro. Chili and salt were available on the table, but the addition of them at the table did not save my meal.

First impression of the food was very good! The salsa at the bar was definitely on point very tasty . I do however have some criticism when taking my order I wasn’t given a receipt. At first I didn’t believe to be a big deal until they gave me my order. I noticed I was missing 2 items. When I asked about these said items they said they would have them out. 10 minutes later I asked again. This time they asked what I had ordered and then came back 4 more times to ask what I had ordered. They then told me it wasn’t on the ticket. I then said I paid for these items! Then they told me that the ticket must have ripped off in the printing process. They weren’t nice about this and even interrupted me and walked away. When I finally received my entire order when I got home the burrito didn’t have the 2 sauces I had asked for. I understand they haven’t been open long and I do hope the service and confusion improve. The food here is good but also expensive restaurant prices. I would still recommend trying this place out just make sure you get that receipt and that your order is correct.

I love the art that they have around the inside! I tried the carne asada burrito and I really enjoyed it, the meat was perfect! The atmosphere is super chill vibes, I recommend eating inside because it feels cozy and comfortable! My wife had the crispy taco plate and she said this might be our new spot! Very friendly crew here, thank you!!

Two days after Thanksgiving (2022), my wife and I were walking to neighboring Avanti Pizzeria, wondering when the new Mexican restaurant would open. We were surprised to find it already open! La Katrina had a soft opening just that Monday. So we ate there instead. I had a combination plate with a pastor enchilada and a crispy shredded chicken taco ($16). My wife had regular nachos (no meat) for $11. They feature 12 kinds of meat, and you can get any of those in your enchilada, taco (crispy or soft) or tostada.

Open for Breakfast! We’re thrilled. Shared a HUMUNGOUS chilaquiles and two chicken tacos and wow, it was a wonderful breakfast. The red sauce is spicy but not painful, and is very flavorful. The tacos were delicious, with crispy marinated chicken bits and a tangy green salsa. We’ll come back for dinner and enjoy a margarita next time!
