Jerk Kings in Baldwin had the potential to be a great addition to my neighborhood, being a Jamaican restaurant and all. However, I was left thoroughly disappointed with my experience there. From the moment I walked in, I had high expectations given the name, only to find out that their jerk sauce lacked any kind of flavor or taste. It was nothing more than a bland disappointment.

Ordered food for my family from this place during their grand opening week. I had rasta pasta with jerk chicken and it was not good—at all. The rasta pasta was just overcooked pasta drenched in jerk sauce and some cheese. No peppers whatsoever. The chicken was also drenched in jerk sauce. My mouth was on fire. I had to make my own sweet sauce to subdue the flavor because the extra tiny “sweet sauce” they gave me was jerk sauce! Everyone in my family hated their food too saying it was too spicy and thought the chicken would be cooked on a grill and not baked. I’m definitely passing on this spot especially since the cashier messed up on one of our orders. She took no accountability and didn’t even fix the situation. The person dishing the food did and it wasn’t their fault. Definitely would not recommend.

Fantastic new spot! The atmosphere was bright and fun. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Between the family we had the oxtail, curry shrimp, and stewed chicken. All were delicious but I need to especially praise the oxtail. By far the best I’ve had! So happy to welcome Jerk Kingz to the neighborhood.

Great little place. The staff was very pleasant and friendly, I believe it’s a family run establishment. Food was fairly priced,I was able to get lunch with a soda for just about eight dollars. I was concerned that I might find the food to be too spicy but that was not at all the case. It was very flavorful and enjoyable with just the right bite.

I was really excited to try this restaurant. Tonight I ordered food for pick-up. We got Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat and Oxtails all with rice and peas and cabbage. I’m really sad to say that ALL of the food was bland. I don’t think I’ve ever had bland Jamaican food. The goat was tender and cooked well but unfortunately the flavor was lacking.
