The Oysters were unbelievable. Rich with a hint of mild spiciness. Creamy and decadent, I can imagine getting these frequently when we come here. The Crab cake used lump Crab, so you’re getting nice textured Crab meat. It also wasn’t very heavy. The Calamari used a decent breading, kind of like a tempura. The service was also excellent.

The ambiance was warm and inviting. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff, the menu offered a fantastic selection of steaks and seafood dishes. But the highlight of my evening: the dessert. The crème brûlée was simply divine! The perfect balance of creamy custard and caramelized sugar on top created a delightful contrast of textures.

Had cocktails to celebrate our son’s USCG Graduation and had good service. We stayed here at the hotel as well and the Grand was a good place to have a view of the beach and be within a few min. Of the USCG CAPE May Base for easy access for graduation

We arrived for a 5:30 reservation at 5:23 and were told to wait at the bar or outside- no problem, we get it. When we were seated 6 minutes later, it was full of empty tables. We have no issue with a place promoting its exclusivity, but the food has to back it up. While the plating of the food was amazing and beautiful, the taste left a bit to be desired. We asked for our steaks medium rare and got medium- medium well and they were underseasoned. The frites(as your menu called them but your waitress didn’t know what we were talking about) were negligibly seasoned with a sprinkling of parmsean and some herbs. The bearnaise seemed off and the vegetables were again underseasoned. We had planned to stay for dessert, but given the quality of the mains, decided not to. The ambience was nice, felt classy but still retaining a bit of a casual vibe. The waitress was very good, kind, and had a gentle way about her. Payment went smoothly.

I tried to make reservations online and kept getting an error message. I tried calling several times times before anyone answered the phone. Finally, I made my reservation over the phone. Fast forward to reservation time, when we arrive the hostess tells me we don’t have reservations.

I won’t recommend Hemingway restaurant. We ordered onion, clam chowder soups. And some tacos. Onion soup was over salted and we found a….match in the soup… the clam chowder soup was almost cold. And tacos…. the tomatoes sauce which came with it started fermenting and was probably expired. Don’t waste your time, money and health over there! Try something else.

Went here for work Christmas party. Included three-course dinner consisting of prefixed menu with very limited choices and no option to upgrade any of the menu items. Had salmon which was cooked perfectly; majority of miniature seasonal veggies (about a quarter cup total) were very undercooked and inedible; salad dressing tasted like tuna rather than anchovies; bread, stack’s enough, was raisin bread (the kind you generally eat at breakfast). Oddest thing was a tiny, single teaspoon of butter that was served in a large bowl for 8 people; when someone requested more butter they brought over a USED bowl that was missing half it’s little teaspoon of butter and the butter that was in it had bits of lettuce stuck all over it as though whiner used it before had cut their salad with the same knife they served they’re butter with. The thought of being served someone else’s butter was absolutely disgusting! Other people in my party had flounder and beef which they also seemed to enjoy. Despite there being only two other small groups in the dining room that evening they ran out of one of only two desert choices; no apology was offered and those who ordered that one dessert were offered the chocolate mousse or nothing. Incidentally it looked like actual fake poop from Spencer’s (see photos below).

Had my small wedding dinner here and my family and I were impressed. All the food was delicious. From the clams, to the scallops, to the salmon, the chicken piccata, and steak. Delicious. The staff went above and beyond to make our wedding reception feel special. They even allowed us to have a cake table with our own decorations. Dawn, Scot, and my amazing waitress who I neglected to get her name were outstanding! I also had banana stuffed French toast for breakfast the next morning. Yummy!

Entire experience was extremely disappointing. For three adults, we paid $150, with only one drink, and the food was lackluster at best. We waited more than 30 minutes after arriving on-time for our reservation. Service was spotty. Prime rib was WAY overdone (ordered medium-rare, not a hint of pink to be found, let alone warm red center!) Pasta dish was sub-par. No wine list, but server said we could not bring in our own wine. Restaurant is dark, dank, noisy, and decor lacks character. I had hoped for a great Cape May oceanfront experience and I felt like we had diner-quality food and experience for way upscale prices. We should have eaten at one of the downtown restaurants. We would have paid a LOT less for MUCH better quality food, experience, and service.

From the beginning the food was inedible. The tuna tartar was served with fried tortilla chips that were burned to a crisp. Gross.
