The location is Olnera Street Plaza. It is always busy here. We were able to get a seat/table right away. There is no wait staff. Orders are taken at the counter, and you pay at the register at the other end of the counter. Contact with staff is very limited. I think this takes away from the experience of eating in a Mexican restaurant. The food is very can process, I mean the beans are can made and warmed by the kitchen staff. The rice lacks original Mexican flavor. The tortillas are store bought, and unfortunately, even the salsa is mass produced and lacks flavor. Gone are the days when you walked around Olvera Street and the smell of tortillas being made fresh. Or the beans soft boiled to a wonderful tenderness that brought back memories of being in Nana’s kitchen. Or the smell of fresh cilantro and onions being chopped for salsa. Now, everything is purchased and warmed or opened with a can opener. So, overall, it’s not the best food to eat anymore on Olvera Street, but still a quaint little spot to kill a couple of hours. So, as long as you eat somewhere else, this is still an okay place to take a walk and walk off the breakfast or lunch you ate somewhere else. Answer to your reply. Perhaps if the food had more flavor, my opinion would not have touched a nerve with you. If the food tastes like it comes from a can, that says a lot about the cook. If the salsa was fresh, you must make it on a Monday and stretch it so it lasts all week. Sorry, my review set off your hostile nature. But, the food really does taste like you opened a can. Posted 6/2/2023. After reading your response. I was nice in my first review. You have a right to your opinion, and I have a right to post a review. If this food was your best, I’m glad I didn’t order something else.

So the food was ok, we ate inside they did not ask for our covid card and ID to sit inside (and that did become required 3 days ago). The lady cutting the pork did not use gloves and was peeling the meat apart to put it in the taco shells (yes at this point we should of walked out). But with all the great reviews we really wanted to try it. The ladies did get a little attitude when we didn’t want 2 of the shells cause of lent being on it then we didn’t want slaw on it just lettuce and cheese and that irritated her (I think we just had a little language barrier, and we apologized for that). I did not observe no one washing hands in-between drinking etc and making more tacos. The lady cleaning tables kept filling her cup up. When asked about refill they do not give you one but you can pay full price for another fountain drink (that would only cost maybe 5cents in syrup) But they will give you a cup of ice for free, seems ridiculous. Not worth going back. Check out the ones by the vendors selling stuff. These ladies are not friendly

Yesterday was my first and would say last time I go to this restaurant. Food wasnt what I expected. I ordered a combo of carnitas taco and a tamal, didnt come with salsas or chopped onion and tomato, both were dry and the rice wasnt well cooked. Cashier was a little rude.

Located in a plaza next to different stores. A food tourism location. The staff was great and friendly. The food was OK but I still enjoyed my visit. The atmosphere was very nice.

Been going here for over 40yrs, this place has lost it due to cost cutting corporate ownership, they destroyed an icon of LA…Carnitas are dry and flavorless, tortillas lack the proper texture and taste. Bean are no longer flavorful and you can tell the color of the beans are totally different now. Rice is dry and lifeless now, guacamole changed texture and flavor for the worst, salsa lacking in original flavor. My heart and the hearts of my family are BROKEN, what was once a shining star of L.A. Mexican food heritage is GONE and now turned into Chipotle

We had the lunch special of 3 courses for $25.00. Beautifully arranged plates providing just the right bites for lunch. Beautiful marriage of tastes. The margaritas the best we’ve tasted. We found a small piece of netting stuck to one of the chips. The waiter quickly replaced everything. Waiter was wonderful!

I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl with my family. The taste is the same as always. The ladies working there are the sweetest. Delicious food!

The patio seating was nice. Food was fine, but not memorable. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, but service was quick and prices were average.
