Terry Black’s BBQ provided us with a tantalizing culinary adventure, though a few minor inconveniences dotted our experience. Arriving, we were greeted with the challenge of tight parking, leaving us no choice but to find street parking due to their bustling lot. The wait time, however, was pleasantly bearable, and we were soon inside, navigating the cafeteria-style seating. Remarkably, even with our baby in tow, the stroller-friendly environment ensured a quick seat for us.

We came to Austin with the intention of getting some decent BBQ…this place blew our expectations out of the water! This was a perfect meal. Service was quick, staff were friendly and more than happy to answer questions. The vibe of the restaurant was a quintessential BBQ joint one would expect to find in Texas. This was the first BBQ Iv ever had where the meats needed no sauce whatsoever. The sides were portioned generously and the peach cobbler was some of the best cobbler I have ever tasted.

I’ve been in Austin over a year and finally came to the famous Terry Black’s. It was pretty packed inside. They shuffle you through the ordering line rather quickly, so you better know what you want. You order sides first, and then head over to the meat counter where you pay. My husband and I got the macaroni and cheese and the beans, and then we got a pound of brisket to share. The brisket was tender and very good. We also tried a slice of turkey from our friends, and the turkey was the most tender I think I’ve ever had. The beans were not my favorite; I’ve had much better flavor and texture around town. The macaroni and cheese was pretty classic. The amount of food we ordered was plenty. The place is generally hectic, and the bbq sauce bottles were covered in sauce from previous users. The price for the meat is steep, so we probably won’t be back often.

I just want to say that I think, I believe, and I know.. well that’s how I process all different type of barbecues, I’ve tried! Hands-down. This was the best barbecue I’ve ever tried in my life! I’ve had barbecue from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee different cities in Texas, and nothing compares to Terry blacks barbecue is the best I’ve ever tried in my life, the restaurant was awesome and it had a great vibe to it and this whole experience was none like any!! Because when you get to this restaurant, not only are you having great food, you’re having a cool restaurant experience, and a different way of going into a barbecue restaurant! When I tell you, we got lucky when we went because we didn’t wait but shortly after there was a long line That wrapped around the whole restaurant inside and outside that’s how good this place is! And not to leave the staff behind they were awesome with all the recommendations and how to order your food!! They are awesome!! Worth it!!

If you’re on the hunt for the ultimate BBQ experience, look no further. I will start off by mentioning, the parking lot is less than ideal since the lot is so tiny and street parking in Austin can be stressful. Regardless, this place still gets 5 stars because… well, we’ll get there! The rustic ambiance, smokey aromas, and friendly staff set the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable culinary journey.

Just yes! Go here. Walk, drive, ride, scooter….just get there. We were there just before 10:30am for BBQ breakfast and didn’t need to or want to eat anything else until dinner. So good. Don’t sleep on the banana pudding. And try some of the complimentary BBQ sauces at the tables. Yummmmyyyy!

Amazing atmosphere and great food! Brisket was juicy and tender, and the jalapeño and cheddar sausage was phenomenal! Green beans and Mac and cheese rounded out our meal. The place was packed, but that just tells you how good the food is… highly recommend!

Terry Black’s is definitely worth the visit! It’s cafeteria style and you get your sides first. I loved the cream corn and mac and cheese, and if you’re with a group, I would consider upgrading the sizes and sharing. The meat is priced by the pound and can add up quickly, but given what you get, it’s pretty fair. You’ll want to try everything, so for cost efficiency I would get different meats and share that too. I tried the pork ribs and I highly recommend them. It gets really busy but their system is efficient.
