My sister and I are vegan / veg and LOVED this place! The menu was creative and hearty. I wish I could have tried everything! We got a wild rice salad with cucumber and avocado, and a black bean burger with dairy free pepper jack cheeze to-go. Delicious. Our waitress was also the owner and was SO friendly and nice, going above and beyond for us! The place was tucked back a little from the road, and we sat down outside in the shade by a little creek. I’m so glad this place exists and highly recommend if you’re plant-forward or just want a fresh, handcrafted meal from a local, family-owned restaurant.

My wife is a vegetarian and we found this new cafe and loved it. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Our buffalo cauliflower had a light crispy breading and the ranch dip was made fresh from scratch. Their menu was full of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meals while also having some options with meat.

My motorcycle club and I visited the Bear Cub Grill back in June, we had such an amazing time, eating both lunch and breakfast during our weekend there. The owners are so friendly and accommodating, and the food was delicious! The chicken strips were particularly amazing, with an unexpected tangy flavor. During the breakfast buffet we were treated with such hospitality unheard of in the bigger cities we come from. They were quick to make sure we got as much as we could eat of whatever we wanted, even taking special orders on the side. The prices were perfectly reasonable and the location is quaint and fitting of a mountainside diner/cafe. Highly recommend, and will return in the future!

My family and I were in the area and needed to find a gluten free place to eat. So happy we found Bear Cub Cafe!! It’s a family run cafe and Greg and Felicia were very welcoming. The food was like homemade food and freshly made. It was delicious! I loved my brown rice and lentil salad and kids loved their pastas.

First time trying was Mother’s Day. They had free meals for Mothers. I got the Hawaiian chicken with roasted potatoes and broccoli. It was so delicious. I highly recommend The Bear Cub Cafe & Grill.

We stopped by after daughters wedding and had a big party. The food was good and had options that other places would not have. If you are in the area and eat vegan or have food allergies you need to stop by. I do believe everything was made fresh to order so it did take us longer to eat than expected.

This place is fairly new to the area, but a must eat during your stay, especially if you are in the arts and crafts community area. We found this place while looking for a place to eat on a Wednesday. Most places were closed, but thankfully they were open and I’m glad that the other places were closed now, because it allowed me to eat here instead! We live in Michigan, but next time we are in the area we will be specifically looking to eat here!

Glad we found this little gem of a cafe today. I can’t give enough superlatives for what was a delicious meal. Certified gluten free restaurant with many vegan dishes. I have never had a gluten free vegan dish with as much flavour before. I hope to be back. Thanks Felicia

I found this place on happycow where they had listed themselves in the fully vegetarian category, described as “a vegetarian, gluten free restaurant.” They also have a facebook post from earlier today stating that EVERYTHING on the menu is gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, and dairy free. However, this is totally false advertising. We noticed there was meat on their menu, but we assumed it was a meat alternative. When we asked if they were fully vegetarian they said yes, but then when we asked what alternative the “meat” was made of, they told us it was real chicken and pork. It was really disappointing as my family does not eat at places that serve meat. We had driven 40 minutes to come here, just to have to turn around and go back to our campsite to cook lunch. They also present themselves as fully gluten free, but a number of things on the menu do not seem to be actually gluten free (such as the chicken stir fry, which contains soy sauce.) Even cross contamination from these things could be extremely dangerous for certain people who are not expecting it. I hope they will update their online presence and how they explain things to be transparent with potential customers about their menu items.
