We love MFM in Mt. Pleasant and were thrilled that they opened a second restaurant on James Island nearer to us. We went in Sunday evening for supper. The atmosphere is wonderful – very old world, very English. The food was excellent…their shepherd’s pie is the closest to my Scottish grandmother that I have ever tasted this side of the “pond”! The service was excellent. A full bar, a pool table section, and plenty of seating make for a great evening. I highly recommend My Father’s Moustache on James Island.

I went back and forth about leaving a review because the employees are so nice here, but after spending the past 18 hours hours with severe food poisoning, I felt other patrons need to understand that this in NOT a safe place to eat. Shiver, body aches, fever, fatigue, naseau, etc., all classic signs of food poisoning. The prime rib was recommended to me and I asked for the rarest piece along with a caesar salad. The croutons were spongy in the salad but wasn’t a big deal. But when the prime rib arrived, it was awful. Luckily I cut into it prior to eating it. It looked more like meatloaf than prime rib. I showed the owner the steak, no apologies whatsoever. The manager was sitting next to me and had some wings sent out in it’s place. They were awful, way overcooked. I was hungry and didn’t want to go somewhere else because I was watching a game. Big mistake. I also ordered an old fashioned and it took the bartender 90 minutes to make it and I ended up walking her through how to make one. The manager was more concerned about giving his friends shots than taking care of paying customers. Again, the manager, owner and employees were so nice, but the service and food was a disaster, and after losing a day’s revenue from not being able to work, I felt it was necessary to write this review. They did comp the entire check which was very much appreciated at the time, but a drop in the bucket to how awful I feel and how much I lost out on.

Winston Churchill Cheeseburger was yummy. I really liked the bun and proportions. Relaxed and casual setting. Friendly staff. I will be back to try the Fish & Chips next.

Food made with love. Service with a smile. Fantastic atmosphere! Fish & Chips is perfect. Thick slab of Cod wrapped in paper-thin crust. Short Rib Risotto is OMG, next level. Great draft selection. And finally, a volume of music appropriate for dining and discussion. Prices are fair. Family friendly. Get over here!

Came in on Sunday, June 4. The manager Grant was the only one there. He was bartending ,running food ,taking orders ,cleaning tables. It was crazy. I’ve been here several times since they opened on my side of town, and I always enjoyed it. It was different yesterday. Food was fried too long and the shepherds pie was inedible. What happened? Hopefully ownership can fix it. Not a bad spot to go watch the game.

We came in wire a party of 12 on on a Saturday . We tried to call several times to let them know we were coming. We we’re celebrating my son leaving for college. I was told by a one eyed man that he was not going to be unconvinced and would not move tables. He does d not want or need our business. They were not busy. Turned his back on a totally local James island group and at least $300 in sales and a large tip. I’ll never go back and neither will the 3 other families.

We were *violently ill* after eating sandwiches there for “1/2 Price Burger Tuesdays”. Food prep, presentation, and taste were barely average, but the rest of the night vomiting sealed the deal. Place is a dump. Faux English lipstick on a pig extremely unsanitary and slapstick management.

Much to offer! Indoor and outdoor seating(pets okay). Small gaming area with pool table. Stage area for live music. Trivia on Wednesdays at 7 pm. Saw all age groups at dining tables. Bar area was full. This restaurant location has seen lots of turn around. Hopefully this one lasts!

Sat at the bar and had excellent service from the bartenders. Ordered the bulldog sandwich and it was really good. Highly recommend their beer battered fries too.
