I’m from Wisconsin and have been to bars all around the state my whole life. The vibe at this place just struck me as odd. Not a tavern, not supper club, not a pub, and not a sports bar & grill. I guess they consider themselves a cocktail lounge but it didn’t feel very lounge-y to me. The only cocktails I could see were nothing fancy. More like lots of cheap and easy tequila sunrises in pint glasses and certainly no Old Fashioneds or any other type of tumbler cocktail. Tap beer selection was as bland as could be. Six taps and the one you give to a craft brewer is Lift Bridge Mango Blonde when you already have Michelob Ultra, Coors Light, Goose Island 312 Shandy, and New Glarus Spotted Cow. Really?!?!

Stopped here while passing through on a ride. Was thinking with a name like “Cell Block” and by the outside it would be a dive or biker bar. Nope, pretty decent inside. Modest patio overlooking the river, friendly service. Not my kind of crowd though, at least in a Friday afternoon.

My crew and I were in Durand, WI for work. We looked online for food, found the Cell Block menu, called in an order for lunch. I ordered the shrimp basket. The online menu we looked at says the shrimp basket is served with with fries and Texas toast for $8. That is what I ordered. When we arrived at the restaurant, the bartender gave us a paper menu. We told him we had called in and order and he got us the bill for our order. The receipt showed an $11 charge for the shrimp. The online menu says the price for the shrimp basket is $8 (with the fries and toast). I decided to look at the paper menu and discovered the paper menu price for the shrimp said $10 (fries and Texas toast NOT included). I asked to talk with a manager and a lady came of of the kitchen. She got angry when I complained about being charged $11 when the online price is $8 and the paper menu price said $10. Me and my crew were not impressed with the food. Just okay, nothing special here. Will gladly seek different options in the future.
