Hunan has delicious food but currently offers takeout only. There is no table service or buffet — and it closes really early at 8 p.m. even on Saturday. Most of the tables are roped off but you can sit down and eat your “takeout” food. Really bizarre situation. Apparently big shortage of employees.

Great food, not a long wait.

I ate at this restaurant on 7/9/23. Yes, they have food, and they cook it, thus they earned 2 stars. Is the food good? Depends on how hungry you are. Do they have good service? It depends how good you are setting your table, collecting dirty dishes and scrubbing leftovers into a large bucket placed in a corner of a partially blocked dining room. Owners are still social distancing, thus only serve to go orders and all is disposable except plates and silverware. Would I recommend this place? Not unless you have been starving for a few days and everything else is closed.

Ordered takeout today, brought it home to eat. I live about 40 miles from Taos. When I was going to feed my family I was missing one of the steamed rice containers. One was supposed to come with each entree. Also, the sweet and sour combination was too sweet. We couldn’t enjoy it. Wasn’t good. We probably won’t go back there.

I phoned in my order at 4 pm for a 6 pm pickup. The owner could not find the order slip among those in a pile on her desk and had to search though another stack. And then it was a half-hour wait until the kitchen could get it together. We asked for chopsticks but those were not provided. The food is reasonably good, probably the best Chinese in town. You have to decide if it’s worth the unreliable service and generally long waits.

Picked up a take out order for vegetable lo mein and bean curd (tofu) with mushrooms and it was delicious! There was a hefty amount of tofu in the mushroom dish along with other veggies. The rice was fresh and cooked to perfection. I recommend this place for vegans and vegetarians.

A sign said they reopened on May 11th. The restaurant has limited service which is geared for takeout orders. Hunan has no table service but gives you the option to take your takeout order to a dining table to eat your meal. We enjoyed our meal. Several people chose to eat at the restaurant.

First time dining there since the pandemic. The food was simply not good. I ate maybe 1/4 of my meal and trashed the rest. No table service, only take-out but you can eat at a table. Dining area and men’s room were dirty.
