TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A.
In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

We went here for a takeout. First time here and heard all the hype. We ordered HOT #3 that comes with 1 tender and 1 slider and fries and an extra hot single tender. Not the best fried chicken we ever had. The chicken tenders was covered with powdery dry spice and you can taste the burnt from it which made it worse. The slider wasn’t bad since all the extra makes it better. The fries were seasoned well.

After reading Christina L.’s (yelp elite) review, I had to come down to Sunnyvale and get a spicy chicken sandwich. Her spicy chicken sandwich photos were awesome. It makes it easier to see photos and order what my yelp friends order so that I don’t get any surprises. Sometimes it can be disappointing to see it in person though. I ordered the #2, 2x sliders w/fries $15 and a soda $3. Mine didn’t look as good as Christina L.’s. The medium spicy level was good. The spicy chicken sandwich was delicious! The bits of fresh coleslaw with pickles mixed well with the spicy chicken. The breading was crunchy. They did a good job of keeping the chicken moist on the inside. It was messy eating this. This won’t be as good if I took it to go. The coleslaw juices and aioli sauce would have mess up the crunchy chicken. Next time, I’ll only get one slider as they are pretty big. The two sliders this time got me pretty full. Good job Dave!

Chicken is excessively covered with a powdery spice dust. Kind of like how Cheetos are, except more dry powdery. Not great to eat as the powder comes off and coats your tongue making for an odd, dry taste experience.

I just didn’t like the chicken. It tasted like they made mild chicken and sprinkled spices over it to get it to the “hot” level. The fries were good. The place was very echo y and a bit greasy. The staff is very nice though.

Came here during their soft opening, and was surprised to see there wasn’t a long line already! The servers were super friendly, and I got their #1 which is 2 tenders with fries.

Ordered through Doordash for the first time, and food was good. The chicken was flavorful and not dry. I ordered the chicken sliders with fries, which was a great meal, except for the fries which were bland. The mac and cheese was a okay. Milkshake was decent too, nothing special.
