We ate here right when they opened at 11am on a Saturday morning. It was very nice not to have to deal with big crowds because we have driven by here on the weekends and seen this place get packed so this time gave us a chance to really take in the scenery. The staff are super friendly.

The food was very good. Prompt service, especially for a Friday night. There are 2 rooms of indoor seating but it appears most take their order to go. The whole downtown area has a nice vibe.

Wow! What a great hot chicken sandwich! Kicked up the heat Rambo(hot) style and really enjoyed it. 1st time here today, and I have to say the service was excellent. Very kind at the counter and very helpful for a first-time visitor. I’m not sure when I’ll be back in town, but I’m definitely gonna swing by here for another mouthful of hot chicken. 🙂

Top notch place. Our first time trying Nashville hot chicken and it was incredible. The portions are huge, food came out piping hot and was delicious. Everyone was super friendly and patient with all our questions when ordering, and checked in to make sure it came out right and tasted good.

Everything we ordered was fantastic. Service was great as well! I’m torn though, when I think Nashville hot, it’s slathered in the hot sauce– This was not what I expected…. But, delicious nonetheless. The catfish is superb! I will be back, if just to get more of the ghost mayo!

I usually frequent the Big Shake’s in Franklin but decided to try this other location while in the area. The Columbia location lives up to the hype. The same dishes and quality one would expect from the flagship location, but in the heart of the historic square area of Muletown. The service was stellar, pricing was expected, and the food was on par with expectations. Greeted by the ordering counter and a well laid out menu upon entry, the patron will have their choice of eating in a (surprisingly spacious considering the building) dining room up a couple stairs from the ground level, or out back on a covered patio with sufficient seating. Staff even checked in on my party of six a few times to see if we needed anything to make our dining experience more enjoyable. Once again (and unsurprisingly) you rocked it, Chef Big Shake and crew. Five stars, for sure.

Saturday afternoon we had the incredible honor of eating lunch at Big Shakes!!! To date the BEST meal we have had in Columbia TN!!!! The hubs is a big catfish lover but most places he is just underwhelmed!!! Not here!! Big shakes allows you to chose your heat level, the hubs being the hubs had the original which is no heat, the catfish was served with 2 sides, he chose the coleslaw and collard greens. The catfish was crispy, but tender, flaky and flavorful. The tartar sauce was definitely homemade and was just the right addition to the bite of catfish but definitely not needed. He said the coleslaw was exactly how he likes it, plenty of juice, not dry and a great amount of flavor. The collard greens he could not speak higher of. He said the flavor was just right, the right bite of tender but still substance, cooked to perfection! One of the best bowls he’s had in a while. I had a hard time selecting as I wanted to try everything on the menu. I ultimately chose the tacos with medium heat and a side of fries. Along with the 4 pieces of the fried cheesy shrimp, crybaby heat level as I had to share them with the hubs! Ok…where do I start. I had a friend, my favorite, crinkle fries with some spices, yummy. Then I moved to the shrimp. This is where I am at a loss for words…they were the best fried shrimp I have ever had in my ENTIRE life. A nice mix of creamy cheese surrounded the shrimp and then coated with the Nashville hot batter coating and deep fried to perfection. The little tail was left on as a type of little handle to hold onto while you ate the PERFECT bite of shrimp and cheese! Heaven, absolute heaven!!! Then I moved to the taco…mind you this tacos was packed full of chopped up chicken that had been battered and cooked I to yummy goodness and then packed into a tortilla with lettuce, cheese and Pico and I opted for the jalapeño sour cream,which I am so glad I did, it added another layer of flavor!! One bite with all of those flavors I am hooked. The right amount of heat, tender pieces of chicken, fresh Pico and that jalapeño sour cream..it was a party in my mouth!!! I am a fan. This is seriously a MUST do if you haven’t!!!

This was my first time visiting and all I can say is….yum!!! The chicken sandwich was extremely moist,and spiced to perfect. You can choose the level of heat you think you can withstand from ” not so bad” to ” what was I thinking?!” . You get a choice of sides to round out the meal. The portion was generous. If in Columbia, stop in !! Your taste buds will thank you!!
