Don’t expect five star meals. But the food is real good, the crowd is very friendly. The service is real laid back and friendly. But the ambiance, scenery and drive is worth it alone! Leave you name etched on a wall, on a dollar bill tacked to the wall, and visit a place literally built in the 1800’s on the National Historic Register. It’s a piece of history, and whether you drive through the town of Pine with the gorgeous scenery and river or down Elk Creek Road, you won’t be disappointed finding this place or the drive to find it.

Love this place. Burgers are all grilled on cattle shaped pits and smell as good as they taste. Drinks are good, bands most weekends, bring a dollar and pin it to the place. Will be back..

Historic tavern in the heart of the mountains. It’s an out of the way place that everyone should visit once as it is one of the oldest bars in Colorado. Nice deck that overlooks the river. Menu isn’t extensive, but adequate. Nice burgers that weren’t overdone and after a day on the river taste like heaven.

The food was 3/10, nothing special…the service was even worse and even a dog hair in my husband’s baked beans. Plus…before my husband was paying for the food, I asked him to give me a one dollar bill to sign and leave in the restaurant. After getting the change, he turned to follow me to give me a dollar without leaving the tip first for the waitress. He didn’t intentionally forget a tip, but she proceeded to chase him to the door and said angry: ”I work for tips, but whatever!” Well, my husband is always giving tips even when they might not be deserving. I am from Europe (where tips are not popular), and he was teaching me to always leaving tips for people because those people count on tips as apart of their salary. This was the first time in my life that I have ever seen something like that. He immediately started apologizing to her and giving her the tip he was going to, but she didn’t even say anything…

As one of Colorado’s oldest bars, it is a trip through time and what an experience! Good food and hearty locals make this an unforgettable experience!

Love this place but only been once. Great Amber ale and scenery. Not easy to find especially if you are towing a camper. We were there on a busy Sunday lunch and the staff had walked out the previous day. Needless to say the owners were stressed but were doing their best. Not enough for some Harley riders who came in thinking they were at a fast food restaurant.

For something that’s out-of-the-way, it’s a fun change of pace and place. Lovely drive, but don’t expect great cell phone service! The food is nothing to write home about but it is all about the location and atmosphere (worth at least one trip)! Bring a dollar, and add it to the collection.

Slow, friendly service, over cooked burgers, but the place was great! An American original, and a place you’ve got to see to believe. Plan on leaving a personalized dollar bill tacked to the wall with thousands of others.
