We went to try the 6.5 lbs sushi roll and was not disappointed. I figured it would be gimmicky worth getting just to see the size, which is amazing, but the taste was phenomenal. Would highly recommend, maybe bring about 5 people to eat it.

Haven’t had sushi in awhile and my brother wanted to go to the movies so we stopped by for a bite before heading to the theatre. I had the Henderson House Roll and was completely satisfied size wise as well as with the flavor and construction of this beautiful and delicious roll. It is amazing without soy sauce because the spice of the jalapeño gives an extra bite to the roll, but adding in the sauce creates a totally new flavor that kept me interested in the roll till my plate was clean. My brother had the General Tso’s Chicken and liked the mix of sauce and breading thickness on the chicken because it was not overwhelming like you would get from a takeaway. We came in at 5:30, were immediately sat when they were relatively busy, and were out before 6:30. Though it initially seems a little pricey, I would say you receive a serving portion of a high quality that is worth the money spent. My only gripe would be that the wait staff was not incredibly attentive to filling up waters, but considering that there was not an empty table in the house when we left I forgive this short fall and would greatly recommend a visit if you are on this side of Jackson and looking for a sushi roll or other Japanese/Chinese dish.

Kanpai is a fantastic spot in Jackson to go get sushi. Big time underrated and not talked about enough. Been here multiple times and it’s never disappointing. Always leave more than full. Prices are fair but the lunch portion was a great size for its value. Taste great and the service was fine. One of my favorite sushi places in the area

I came to eat lunch with my fiance, cousin, and brother. The experience started out fine enough; we were immediately seated and had our drink order taken. The restaurant was clean. However, that’s about the extent of the positives I have to say about the place. Our waitress was complete incompetent regarding the sushi on the menu and couldn’t answer simple questions about them. She then proceeded to take both mine and my fiancée’s orders incorrectly. She charged us for extra mushrooms when we asked for none, and she charged me for adding cream cheese to my sushi when I asked if it could be substituted for another item without mentioning that it would be an additional charge. In addition to these minor inconveniences, she also *completely* got my main course incorrect and then had the gall to tell me that I ordered what she gave me. She refused to even take the dish back to the kitchen for disposal when I said I didn’t want it, saying that I’d said that I liked it. She openly argued with me about what I’d ordered in front of everyone, and no other employee said a thing. The food sucked, the service sucked, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. If you go here, avoid the thin blond waitress with tattooed hands or else you’ll be in for a bad time.

Kanpai please!!! Don’t let go!!!!! I’ve visited Kanpai three times in the last 3 months. The food had finally gotten on par with other high quality Sushi joints on the North side. Tonight’s food was disappointing. $72 for takeout food we threw out.

While visiting family in neighboring Selmer TN, it is a challenge finding diverse dining options. I’ve driven by Kanpai a number of times and finally decided to stop in for lunch. What a nice surprise! Great sushi and a great selection. We had the Volcano and Greg rolls, both delicious. Can’t wait to eat here again next time we’re in town.
