The Autumn Experience
We so appreciate the River Tap and Grill here in our little town. It’s kinda the only thing we have, but it’s obvious that they put great thought into the menu and overall atmosphere. They have a creative drink menu, and a diversity of choices on the food menu. Everything sounds really good, but I’ve found the food to be hit or miss unfortunately. If it’s good, it’s typically really good. I’ve never had anything “bad”. Where I’ve had lesser great experiences with the food would be like the sauces on things were overkill, like on the brussel sprouts. In other cases the item just wasnt a wow. Especially because some of the prices are right up there with Portland restaurants.

Would not go back or recommend this restaurant. I have never left a review online before but felt this was necessary.Waited for 15 minutes with no one in line just to get someone to put our name in to wait. Plenty of staff around looking lost. Waited 20 for a table with plenty of empty tables. Service was awful waited almost an hour for food. Eggs white runny and undercooked, bacon hard and dry, dry toast with no butter or jam to be found. Waitress never even came over to ask how our meal was or if we needed anything, avoided eye contact with us. Had to get up to go ask for creamer and sugar. Couldn’t seem to get anyones attention for water or coffee refills. Extremely overpriced for sub par food. Don’t waste your time or money.

The service was just OK. We waited over 10 minutes before we were waited on initially. I ordered beef tips and they were terrible. They were over salted, tough meat, and tasted like they basted it with Heinz 57 sauce. One companion ordered the wagyu sliders and the lemongrass took from the flavor. My other companion ordered the Carolina BBQ and commented that there was too much “stuff” on it. We had to move outside because the acoustics made the noise deafening. One woman came to get my finished plate. She noticed there was tips left and asked if i wanted a to go container. I said no it was horrible. Then the waitress asked if there would be dessert. I said no the meal was terrible and i couldn’t do dessert. Neither seemed concerned and i was still charged for everything. I traveled up from out of state and would never recommend this restaurant.

Holy moly! Super loud and rowdy! Short staffed, only 2 people juggling. The bartender was juggling the bar customers and tables. We waited over an hour for our food. Food was ok. Menu was pretty small for lunch. Entries are only for after 4 o’clock. Lunch menu consists of burgers & fries, and sandwiches. We would deff try them again, due to them being so short staffed. Not their fault, but it was a disappointing 1st experience

Weve been going to River Tap for years..pre pandemic, post pandemic and we’ve always loved it, never had a bad meal. Things have changed a bit but all good. The menu is smaller but the food is phenomenal. I have never had better nachos, and the new specialty drinks are so good. The staff is always pleasant and they all seem happy to be there. Very pleased, as usual, with our latest experience at River Tap
