The service here is unmatched. Apparently this spot has been here for a few years and I have never seen it!!! We accidentally happened upon it looking for somewhere to have lunch. It’s hidden kind of back behind the burger king in the shopping center across from Diligence drive. We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome! The people here are so sweet and helpful! The food is affordable and delicious. We got 6 hotdogs our way, 3 chips, 3 cookies, a root beer float, a soda, lemonade and sweet tea all for like $40! Honestly, even if the food hadn’t of been good, I probably would have gone back just because of the impeccable service and atmosphere. But I am full and happy! I will be returning to try more topping combinations and other items on the menu! My mom’s already planning her visit after calling me while I was eating. I highly recommend checking them out!!!!

I Passed this gem many times, never knowing what deliciousness awaited. Tucked behind the Burger King on Jefferson & J Clyde (strip mall). You’ll find a Hotdog stand that might take you back to your childhood (if you’re old enough to have completed childhood). On to the rating. It’s a restaurant but appropriately named due to once you step inside you get that hotdog stand feel. Nice and quaint. You’re greeted with a genuine smile a hello & a welcome (which is becoming rare now days). Beef dogs and in house made chili. Meals made to order (hot & fresh). I had air fried French fries and a vegan chili dog. I am not vegan and neither is the chili, yet this didn’t stop the combination of deliciousness. If could have; I would have added a milkshake for the perfect trifecta. Like/ give me a thumbs up if this post is helpful. Thanks.

I wanted to love it. It is a cute little shop with very nice people. The milkshakes are good but very thin with very little ice cream. The hotdogs are just boiled hotdogs like you can cook at home. Now yes I know I only get ketchup and shredded cheese when a place has it which you do not. The buns were nice and soft, but nothing exciting about the dogs. The fries were raw and tasteless . Now I airfry my fries at home and they are always good. So I have no problem with airfry and feel they are healthier. My husband ordered the Philly Cheese Steak. We were told it came on a hotdogs bun, no problem. He just was not prepared for it to taste like a hotdogs. He also said the meat was steak ums. Now I like steak ums. Not for sure if it was, because I did not try his sandwich. Not for sure how they cook the meat because I did not see a grill. I had read the reviews before I came in. Most are really good. I just don’t see it. I really wanted to, but just didn’t.

This is a Mom & Pop owned and operated business. Friendly and courteous staff, clean restaurant, nice indoor seating area and a few picnic tables outside. Fresh baked cookies. Service was quick and the business was doing well. Only open from 11:00 to 5:00 Monday through Friday. Not too many of these small family owned restaurants left.

I don’t leave a whole lot of reviews. But this little place was amazing. It doesn’t look like much but my hot dogs and sweet tea came with free French fries. The dogs had the right amount of Chili and nacho cheese,and were the perfect temperature. The service was amazing, and I even dozed off inside the restaurant because it felt comfortable and cozy. I think I might stop here everytime I drive through Newport News during my travels.

A fantastic first visit. The hot dogs were very good on the warmed rolls. We were also given samples of the Chicken Salad and the BBQ Pork. Both were extremely delicious and we can clearly see why the reviews for this place are what they are! Grant and Kim provided us with Outstanding service! I looked up something to eat near me and I’m glad I found this place. Outstanding customer service, food was awesome. The two chili dogs I had were very flavorful! Facility was very clean. I want to harp again on customer service, they were so sweet! I’d recommend this place if you want pulled pork or hot dogs, or if you want a quick bite for cheap!

I have wanting to come to this establishment for a while. It did not disappoint. A small shop, quaint. I have gotten to know the owner over the last few months. I have been to my fair amount of hot dog places over the years. But i can say that if you don’t know “Sam’s Hot Dog Stand” go. Their all beef hot dogs are great fresh and delicious had mine with chilli mustard onions. Yummy. Had cheese fries with bacon. Also great. Oh by the way they were air fried. Drinks from fresh brewed tea and lemonade are good. Free refills are available on those. I will come back to try the other items on the menu. Thanks for the hospitality.

Nice mom & pop place. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Hot dogs are similar to what I remember from high school Friday night football games. Worth a stop in if I’m ever in the area again.
