Small, independent business located in an old fast food restaurant. I don’t go there for ambience; I go for great Mexican food. I got the #5 combination platter, with beef enchilada and cheese enchilada. The ground beef was seasoned beautifully, as was the rest of the food. Their chips and salsa are delicious. The service was stellar.

Good food with nice and calm interior. We happen to go for dinner on week day. It is a decent and clean place. If you are looking for good tasty Mexican food than this is the spot. Fondue with shrimp and mushroom in the appetizer was amazingly delicious. The main course in seafood which we ordered came with grilled scallops and shrimp over the bed of rice was delicious. The dish had generous amount of scallops and shrimps in it. Their home made nacho chips came warm and fresh. The place need a little more bright light and the bar place to be lit up as well. Overall very nice place to come to eat with family and children.

15 adults 3 children. Amazing service, kind and generous staff. Meals were out swiftly after ordering for such a large group. Impeccable service. Loved the margaritas, food was amazing well cooked. Group arrived around 6:30 food ordered by 7:00 after margaritas and drinks were served. Dessert served by 7:50. Just incredible.

Good prices, but menu is almost impossible to read in the restaurant. Beef enchilada meat was dry and corn tortillas seemed stale. House Margarita tasted like quervo mix. Service was fast and the owner was nice, but there are many other Mexican restaurants with much better food.

Yummmm! Just got a combo meal here and SO DELICIOUS!!! The gentleman took my order and went right to work. I was waiting outside and he even let me know when it was ready. Food is super yummy and the service is great! Will be back again! Thank you!!

Super friendly staff and laid back atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon. Chicken Yukatan was very tasty, along side the tortilla chips, salsa, and cheese dip. Topped off with fried ice cream and you can’t go wrong. Great place to share a nice meal with friends.

I can’t give this restaurant a good rating. I ordered a pickup on phone. When I picked up order it was $7.50 MORE than what was posted on internet. I gave the place a benefit of doubt and pd$18.50 for Carnita’s Special . I went home and check price on the web. Went back to restaurant and was told that the info on web was 15 years old? Also my total included $1.50 for chips which I did not order. I was refunded $1.50 for chips but price was still $6.00 MORE than web price. The food I ordered was barely edible. So my advice for El Portal is verify price on anything you order on line. Make sure your pickup price don’t include chips, unless you want them. My 2 star rating is more than El Portal deserves.

The food was significantly lacking in flavor or spice for a Mexican style restaurant. I got the house favorite enchiladas and it was very heavy on the tomato base which overpowered everything. Additionally, it was a bit cold; as was the wait staff… Perhaps, it was a busy day.
