Beautiful view! We got there within 20 minutes of opening and all the cliff side seats were already taken. The upper parking lot is very tight and we were driving a minivan. The service and food was pretty good. Prices were a bit high, but I suppose you are paying for the view and atmosphere. We had the Steak, French dip, Chicken sandwich, and Shrimp BLT. Steak is $40, the others were around $28. Overall, it was a good one time tourist experience.

What an experience! The high price is well worth visiting this magical restaurant with the most amazing view of the bay. The food was top tier delicious. Don’t forget to check out the gift shop. Great place for a date! The ambrosia burger was one of the best gourmet burgers I’ve ever had. If I go back, I will get it again for sure!

I’ve been to this place over 16 years almost every year that I’ve been visiting to Carmel. It’s a beautiful Lookout and the ambrosia burger which they are famous for is something I look forward to every time I visit California. Atmosphere is wonderful. The views are spectacular in the gift shop is so much fun. I highly recommend anyone in the area to visit.

Really nice spot for a snack and a bevvy when heading down the 1. The food was a bit pricey, but we liked the cheese plate a lot and the fries were quite nice (a crazy portion too). Our drinks were refreshing, and you just can’t beat the vibes here on the California coast. Beautiful cliffs, sea breeze, sun shining.

Heard about this place from some locals in Monterey and had read about it prior. Awesome does not do it justice. We were seated past the dining room and out in the back deck. Had unhindered views of the ocean from there. Our server was wonderful and I had the special a tuna salad sandwich that was terrific. My sister the smoked salmon appetizer which was just as good. We had no wait but right after it was 20-30 minutes. A lovely place to linger with a beverage and then to be seated.

Loved the history of the place, love the view, people and employees were friendly and wonderful. I’m not sure if it’s the water, the view, the fresh fruits and veggies, but Californians are just nice people. The view a 10! We have the Nepenthe History//Cookbook (highly recommended) and made the Lemon Tort with fresh lemons. It was my favorite dessert I’ve ever had! I gave this a 4 as my very high priced burger was meh.

The views are beautiful. The place is so cool and chill. The servers were wonderful. A suggestion- Serve appetizers on the deck while waiting for a table. The drinks are hit and miss. Margarita needed something. The prices, I know it’s Big Sur, are too high. Same prices as the Ventana and Post Ranch without the extra amenities. Food was good. Limited menu. No Chicken Sandwich.

Nepenthe takes a bit of an extra effort to reach, but the views and atmosphere are worth it. Located in Big Sur, when the fog is cleared, it’s vista’s are some of the best on the coast! The food… you take your chances. I’ve had some of the worst food there. However, this visit, we got lucky. Fresh, homemade beef barley soup! It was delicious. The only item that is consistently great are the French fries!
