I’ve eaten many cheesesteaks in my life and I’m thankful this place opened up. Ever since moving to South Jersey, it’s been tough getting a proper Philly cheesesteak without going and dealing with Philly itself, but now comes Whit or Whitout! We were chatting with them as we were ordering about our cheesesteak preferences and we both agree it’s tough to beat local bodegas but Whit or Whitout manages to do that and then some. It’s honestly one of the best cheesesteaks I’ve had ever. The bread is a mix of chewy, soft but can be toasted up. The steak just the right amount of chopped. The mix of whiz and melted american on their OG XL was satisfying.

I was referred here by a good friend of who said he had heard the cheesesteaks were phenomenal. He didn’t lie to me. Upon entering, Dakota greeted me and explained a couple of things they had on the menu – I wanted to make sure I was ordering properly. My orders are usually minimal so I got a “whiz whitout”. Whiz cheesesteak, whitout onions. Order was done in 5-8 minutes. I brought it home and ate it – definitely the best cheesesteak I’ve ever had. I’m confident in saying so. As I write this, I’m already thinking about my next one. Great job team, keep up the quality work! I’ll be back soon.

Saw the news article and came same day. I would advised you pre-order cause they run out fast. I was lucky to get in and order before the rolls ran out. Bread is fresh and soft yet toasty, this is not Steak’ems ladies and gentlemen. Always start with the Wiz Wit and it did not disappoint. Took some pics to help people find it because Google maps was not accurate.

If you’re looking for a taste of Philly without the hassle of driving into the city I recommend checking out this new cheesesteak restaurant in south jersey. I ordered a regular cheesesteak with American cheese and fried onions and it did not disappoint. The fries were also very good. I will definitely be going back! I recommend you giving this place a try!

Today we tried Whit or Whitout in West Deptford! We had the regular cheesesteak with Cheese Whiz. I had the onions on the side. We also got fries, American cheese sauce, and a side of the garlic parm sauce. This place gives you a good value! The cheesesteak was more than enough for the two of us, and the bag of fries was enormous. We thought we were going to need to get separate sandwiches because the price was so low, but it’s just a good deal there, which in this economy is a true blessing. The cheesesteak was a glorious, soupy mess and ya know, if you don’t like messy food, you’re not my kinda foodie. I loved the fried onions. Some places have onions that taste almost medicinal but these were cut big enough to taste them and they had a good mouthfeel. The fries were soft and pillowy but not greasy and were great vessels for the salty American cheese sauce and garlic parm sauce, which was a STAR of a sauce. It was tangy, had a good garlic taste that wasn’t sweet but also doesn’t kill your breath for the rest of the day, and a great blend of salt and pepper. If they put a cheese whiz/garlic parm sauce on wings, I would die of happiness. The place is hidden in a shopping center but has a cute little grassy outdoors section with picnic tables. And the inside decor is super Philly, down to the bottles of “wooder.” Super cute, great value, and a delicious lunch! Sandi, the front counter employee, was so helpful and patient too! Support small business!

This is the spot to grab a cheesesteak! Dakota and the rest of the staff are incredible. The service is always quick and made right and the taste can rival any of your favorite city spots. The American Whiz and Phillthy Sauce are a great combo. My family will continue making this our go to spot for steaks.

I thought the steaks were just OK but definitely had potential. Meat was a little dry, and a little light on the cheese (American). The fries were very good. Opening week and they appeared to be very busy, so will give it another try and will update my rating. With that said, it is nice to have another cheesesteak spot in the area. As a NE Philly native who recently moved to NJ, this area is severely lacking in good cheesesteaks. Best of luck to the owners!

Food was fresh, fantastic and delicious. The cheesesteaks are one of the best I’ve had in a while. Sides were good as well (mozzarella sticks, fries, chicken tenders). Definitely going there again.
