Awesome spot for traditional sushi and sashimi. Absolutely no frills here and you won’t find any western cut rolls on the menu. Prices are reasonable for top cuts, but def not cheap. Week day happy hour chirashi bowl was excellent, but everyone knows the lunch specials here are the real bargain. Reservations preferred for dinner, sushi bar does a nice looking omakase I’ll have to come back for.

Visiting from Atlanta, everything was amazing. We stumbled upon the place from our Airbnb, the cleanliness and style of cuisine enticed us. We were WOWED. The service was exceptional as our waitress picked all of the sushi based on our preferences. The quality of the dishes were superb as every dish tasted fresh and made with care. We even came back shortly after we left because we were craving more. And, of course, we were welcomed warmly.

Omakase was incredible! We had seaweed salad, 8 pieces, and a blue crab hand roll for 45 dollars.

This is our go to spot for omakase. It’s very understated and casual, but the food stands up to some Michelin Japanese omakase meals. The baby tuna and albacore sashimi were incredible. This is a hidden gem.

I only know Echigo for their lunch special. But it’s always lovely. Great quality fish, super quick and thoughtful service. They are the realness.

Some of the best bang for your buck if you love an omakase. The fish is very fresh and you do get some interesting selection, not just a generic maguro, sake, hamachi type thing. Eight pieces + hand roll was $40 — very good deal.

Went there for dinner a few weeks ago. The reason I have no photos to share was because we were too mindblown by the great food and too busy to devour it. My daughter (who doesn’t eat fish) devoured 4 or 5 cucumber rolls and declared it was the best food she ever ate. Me and my wife were even more impressed by the phenomenal sushi!

“Consistency, tradition and authenticity” comes to my mind when I think of Echigo. A pleasant surprise and save refuge in an unassuming shopping mall, from the chaotic streets of West LA. The diversity of fresh fish and always-changing “specials of the day” will tell you all you need to know about this establishment. Moreover, and most importantly, sushi rice is preparaded impeccably. The combination of sweet rice vinegar and the warmed rice could not be executed more perfectly by the chef. Topped with the fish of your choice, Echigo’s nigiris have earned a spot in my best sushi restaurants of LA (and the world IMO)

Excellent. I was married to a Japanese photographer and was in different cities/country in Japan for extended period and lived in NYC, trying many Japanese restaurants. The daily special and “skipjack” fish was exquisite. What a find. Not fancy, but if you care about the food and very good service, you won’t be disappointed.
