The Picky Eater
Perfect coincidence that we decided to sit outside on a beautiful day with a beautiful view and actually got to see the air show from the boat races! The outdoor patio truly has some great views of the river on a normal day, and plenty of shade. To start we got the pretzels and beer cheese. 1000/10 they were spectacular! I could put that beer cheese on anything and be happy might be my new obsession. Pretzels bites were hot and yummy! Our server was great and on top of it. We got there right when they opened and they were busy out the gate. Husband got a rum and coke, I got the Bookwalter Sour which was delicious, Get your drinks made by Amy she is amazing. For entrees we got the Western Burger and the Balsamic burger one with fries and one with spinach side salad. Balsamic burger is on the sweeter side. The western burger was our favorite. Although both were cooked perfectly. Fries were good (we dipped them in the beer cheese leftover, but you can order a side of it, do it!). The house made ketchup neither of us enjoyed. Only negative is that the bathroom for the ladies only had two stalls and unless you use the handicap one the other is small my knees almost hit the door, but again everything else was great!

I expected a wait but it was a reasonable amount of time. We sat in the bar where drinks were prepared well. Food presentation was good and no complaints about the meal. Fried pickles were just ok, very soaked in grease and I’ve had better elsewhere. My noodles were just the right amount of spicy and had good flavor. Very noisy inside when packed full of people, with all the sounds bouncing around the room. Not an atmosphere to have good conversation over dinner unless you’re keen on shouting at each other.

Wonderful service by our waitress Delaney. Still new but the food was excellent. They were out of the pretzel bites, which was a bummer. The drinks were very good and I highly recommend The High Road. Got the fried pickles, interesting to use the sweet pickles. The gnocchi mac and cheese with added steelhead was excellent. The teriyaki tofu stir fry was good. Overall excellent, the outdoor seating was good, indoors was a little noisy.

The beer cheese is what drew me to this restaurant. Upon entry, we noticed the renovations make it look very clean and sleek. We were glad to see they kept the beautiful carved wood bar from when it was McDougall’s. Lots of seating and the outdoor patio is beautiful.

Tried this place after I realized it was an extension of Bookwalter and Fiction.

This brand new Bookwalter restaurant is in the old RF McDougall’s location. Lovely renovation, delicious food, and delightful wines from the winery. We were celebrating a birthday and ordered the Duck Fat Tot’s as an appetizer. Nancy had the Blackened Chicken/ Orzo Salad. I had the Steelhead. Each item was cooked perfectly and served with a smile. We were there at a busy time and it was quite noisy. I can’t wait to try the patio when the weather warms up!

Fable is a great addition to the Richland – Y. We were immediately greeted and seated within minutes. The restaurant is clean, good music volume, and good ambiance. The staff tag teamed to make sure we were taken care of. We grabbed a basket of fries for an appetizer. The fries were really good and so were the sauces (ranch and a house made BBQ or ketchup). I got a Hazy IPA that was tasty. My wife got the chicken fettuccini. It was amazing! I got the Balsamic Brie Burger. Wow! You’ll need a napkin. Staff were friendly throughout dinner. Thanks!! We will be back!!

I’m sure my experience here was an unfortunate exception to what is normal.

If you’re in Kennewick, Washington, and looking for a new restaurant to try out, I highly recommend checking out the pizza at the new establishment that just opened up. I had the pleasure of dining there recently, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed by both the food and the overall experience.

Amazing restaurant all around! Food is creative and delicious. The view is spectacular. The cocktails are on-point. Service was quick, knowledgeable, and thoughtful. Prices are a little higher than the average for the area, but reflect using gourmet ingredients and the up-scale, waterfront location.
