I rated 5 stars across the board for what it is. It’s a family-owned fried chicken joint. It is not in a strip mall. It’s in a neighborhood. While in town, I did multiple searches and tried this place because many reviewers said it was the best FC in NC. It was really good. The staff aren’t teenagers and with the plexi in front of the register, you may have to speak up and repeat yourself. Straight forward menu. It is southern food, chicken, slaw, potatoe salad, greens, etc. All the rest is just messing about if the chicken doesn’t deliver- it does. Closest thing to my grandma’s Verna Pearl’s Sunday chicken back home. The breading was golden, not on the brown side. Inside juicy and perfect temperature- not over done and not under cooked. I read the restaraunt was started in the 70’s. We may have sat in original seats. This place set my new standard for fried chicken. Loved it.

Accidently find this placed on our way back from Smoky Mountain. Good soul food. We got stew beef and fried chicken. Beef is very tender and the chicken is crisp. Everything is simple but delicious. Will go back next time if down this way.

What a dream! Some of the best Yams and good comfort cooking. So good that I came two days in a row. I’m really loving the flavors and authentic foods. You need to bring cash but it’s worth it. I have been bragging to everyone about Becky’s and Mary’s because it’s that good. I am not easily impressed but they didn’t even need to do anything special. It’s just what they do good food, great prices and wonderful people. I make sure to bring everyone and tell everyone I know how good it is.

Great Mom-N-Pop style restaurant is the type of place I would take my older loved ones out to eat at. For example,parents,grandparents,ect. They have good food and a unique kind of southern charm that has the ability of pleasing older and newer generations of age groups which in turn makes it an all around great place for most variations of families!!
