Inspired by the vibrant food, colors, and culture of Mexico, Tortazo is a place of discovery – of bold flavors and new culinary experiences – but also a place where you will be embraced by the genuine warmth of Mexican hospitality.
Our first location opened in early 2020 at Catalog in Chicago’s iconic Willis Tower. Our second location is opening this September in New York City’s NoMad neighborhood. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Tortazo-NoMad is a wonderful Mexican restaurant that also offers a great bar menu and Happy Hour menu. I chatted with Terry, who has been the main chef since they opened two years ago. I was impressed with how dedicated he is and proud of the food that his kitchen provides for their customers. Every thing I ate was fabulous and the restaurant also offers an excellent catering menu!. They also have outdoor seating and gender friendly bathrooms.

LOVED this restaurant. It came highly recommended and it met all expectations. We tried the fully dressed guacamole with the delicious salsas. The Milanesa chicken torta was perhaps the best sandwich I’ve ever had – I ordered a second before finishing my meal. We also enjoyed the plantains, churros, as well as the incredible hot chocolate. I can’t wait to come back!

Food and service were both amazing! Our party of 2 was seated immediately at around 8pm on a Thursday without a reservation. Not sure if one is needed. The booth seats were comfy and the general vibe of the restaurant was fun and laid back. The ceviche was fresh and the tacos were warm and delicious. The cubana torta was perfectly toasted and spiced. There were tables for large groups and small. I would definitely recommend!

I love Rick Bayless’ cooking show on TV, so when I just happened upon his place while walking through NYC I had to stop in. I had already eaten so I just had a drink at the bar; El Súper Clásico Margarita. And I asked the bartender to make it spicy. It was perfect. I was there at a time that was not very busy. I will have to return to try the food another time.

We randomly picked this spot for lunch. During peak lunch hour, the restaurant was almost empty, we got table for three, right away. It’s nice restaurant, very clean and modern. Happy hour is 4-6 M-F.
