I came in to do a doordash pickup. The owner started chatting with me and we were both having a down day. But she made my day by her kindness and generosity. Since I wasn’t getting the best tips or even tips at all she gave me a free meal with all of the trimmings. All I can say it was amazing food. I had the browned stew with white rice, cabbage, and baked Mac and cheese. The food was amazing some of the best food I’ve had in a while. I would completely recall her establishment if you haven’t. Just want to say thank you again for her kindness towards me today.

You don’t get what you pay for. The other lady made sure that you got a good amount of food (ox tails) and they made their profit. The light skin girl that is working there now at Broad Street Market gives you five ox tails in the $30 platter. I even brought it to her attention and again for $30. I got a platter full of rice, cabbage, and only five oxtails. For **$30** you get a platter with only **five oxtails** in it. She is intentionally trying to give as little food as possible while charging a high $30 for the platter with only 5 ox tails in it. You can’t even share the $30 platter with another person, what’s that 2 1/2 oxtails apiece. I left there feeling cheated, I will never go back!

Food & sorrel were delicious! The woman behind the counter was nice & friendly. I had the jerk chicken, oxtails & cabbage. I liked that the service was quick as the Market is a busy place. Just say yes when asked if you’d like the jerk sauce. It’s flavorful not spicy hot.

I ordered the jerk chicken with peas and rice and fried plantains and a jerk chicken patty. Everything was very good. Make sure they hit you with the jerk sauce and don’t be afraid to go spicy, it’s not too bad. The woman who served me was very friendly and the prices were fair for this big of a meal. I’m a big dude and couldn’t eat it all!

A few years ago this was the best Jamaican food I had. Damn, it has fell off like crack dealers in the eightes. My friend and I both threw the platter in the trash after a few bites. I felt bad because I raved to my friends about this place. The older woman that owns the place isn’t there anymore but this other woman behind the counter had an attitude nastier than the food. She was extremely rude to us. I’ve also observed her be rude to others. The plantain was hard and dry. The patties were too rigid to bite into. The rice and peas was hard and stuck together. Had a strange taste to it. To avoid getting sick, we threw it in the trash. Never going back. This place used to have a long line….I just realized there hasn’t been one in awhile. Now I know

First off i would like to state that my wife and I are from South Florida and we love to eat Jamaican style food all the time. From the start the woman serving us seemed to have an attitude already soon as we walked up to the counter. The food looked ok so we proceeded to place an order of med size oxtails with rice and peas, a side of cabbage, curry chicken with rice and a side of macaroni and cheese, a beef and chicken patty and also a dumpling which totaled up to $40.23 exactly. As my wife and I sat im the car to eat because we had driven abt 20-30 minutes to eat here immediately my wife mentioned that her mac and cheese didnt taste like much. So I started to try my own food to be sure and honestly, this food tasted like a meal i could’ve prepared in my own home. There was no real seasoning the food lacked that jamaican style kick of flavor and spice that we were looking forward too. The rice and peas were mushy, the oxtails tasted like the day before and didnt have a real seasoning to them. The cabbage was undercooked and crunched when i tried to bite threw it , it was almost raw. Only thing we did eat were the patties and on top of that my wife spotted a small piece of hair in her dumpling!!!! So finally i said enough is enough and asked for a refund, when the owner came out she was very combative and unreasonable. She also refused to give me a refund stating that its a shame that we as (black people) are always trying to tear one another down simply because we did not like the food. I dont recommend Porters to anyone who KNOWS how good Jamaican food should taste u are gonna be disappointed. I always try and support black owned businesses and have a history of doing so but this place could never see another red cent or support from me or my family and friends ever again. Sincerely as a black man. Oh and 1 more thing we left all the food there at the store and still didnt get a refund. Smh
