This little hole in the wall is definitely the best place in Platte City for bar food and reasonably priced drinks. A surprisingly creative food menu with lots of great appetizers and entrees. Everything is cooked right behind the bar, so you can watch your food being prepared. I’ve been there when they had live music, and that was cool too. Smoking is allowed, so be aware of that, but it has never been overwhelmingly smokey when I’ve been there, I assume they have smoke-eaters or good ventilation. If you ask nicely they’ll give you a take-out menu 😉

Waited 15 minutes for drinks to be delivered to our table because the bartender forgot. Totally unacceptable. You remembered to take a break, though And a customer that was paying his tab cut in front of me and she took care of him first. Service sucks here. The only positive is that it wasn’t as smoky as in the past… Clearly clientele because the interior hasn’t changed.

Well could be why downtown has gone downhill. Unfriendly owners chasing customers away. Kinda the feeling of scary people from Tennessee. Not welcoming. Things have changed since ownership. Let’s get these people to co-operate in bringing business to downtown again.

My large family and I were welcomed with open arms at the Pool Hall for two nights in a row when visiting Platte City for a wedding. Good cheap drinks, great food and friendly service! We highly recommend this quaint bar.
