This was our first time here and it did not disappoint. It was a slow time so the restaurant was quiet but it had a nice atmosphere…very coastal and relaxed. My dish was the fish and shrimp combo (pictured) and it was excellent. The fish was well-cleaned so it didn’t have a muddy taste and was super light and flaky with the right amount of cornmeal breading. Hubs had the shrimp kisses – shrimp in a jalapeno, wrapped in bacon, and fried perfectly. It was a bit pricey but worth it. We will be back!

This was my first time in Matagorda, and I am here to tell you that I can’t WAIT to go back, just so I can take you to the Poco Playa Fish Camp.

Came for family dinner on Mother’s Day. We enjoyed the atmosphere, top notch service, food was good. We spent time on the back patio playing corn hole, jenga, & visiting. The boards were falling apart and the landscape has been neglected badly. It’s so nice inside.

Nice place with decent food. We shared the mixed fried fish basket with cat fish, shrimp “kisses”, shrimp onion rings, fries and hushpuppies. The catfish was very tender but the bacon wrapped shrimp tasted like too much bacon (if there is such a thing! ) It was all too much fried food in one sitting. Next time I’ll have the grilled salmon.

Just keep driving… I’ve never waited a full hour to NEVER be served our entrees at any restaurant before. Even after more than half the restaurant left, we received no update on anything from anyone. I ended up switching our small order to take out for the lack of never even being acknowledged by the wait staff, however, the front desk ladies were incredibly kind for taking our original order at our table.

We came twice and had good experiences both times! A few reviews said they got bad service and long wait time for food but that wasn’t the case for us either time. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly locals as well. We’ll definitely be back!

Atmosphere and live music were great! Food is decent, the shrimp didn’t taste fresh like the other restaurants in town, and service was not the best bit we enjoyed the live music there!

We come here in the summers and usually a couple times each winter when visiting family living in Bay City. Probably stop in an average if 10 times each summer. Bar service is slow (to the tables), food is fine – nothing to write home about but nothing to really complain about either, service is average at best, and something is either made incorrectly or forgotten every single time we go. One of our teens has had the etouffee a few times and it comes out cold or barely warm more often than not. If you know what good etouffee is, steer clear. Get the blue crab claws! But they’re the only real game in town so we will continue to regularly visit.

The boil shrimp were really good and we had the Buffalo shrimp with ranch. I’ve never had Buffalo shrimp before. It was my favorite. They give you quite a bit of shrimp for the price. Device was excellent.
