Extraordinary dining experience. In my opinion the best seafood restaurant in the area. I took my five and seven year old Grandchildren to lunch after a visit to the Virginia Children’s Museum, a very short, less than 5 minute walk away. They had the broiled shrimp with a watermelon side. I had the Cajun Mustard Fried Catfish on a bed of rice with fried green tomatoes and an entire LARGE ear of corn on the cob. The hush puppies and fried green tomatoes were plentiful for the three of us. And a wonderful extra, the children’s meals were approximately $5. This was the kids first experience at a fine dining restaurant and it was a spectacular hit. Thank you Lobscouser Staff.

Very nice little seafood place tucked in the heart of downtown Portsmouth!!! Can’t believe I have never been here before! Food was great and staff was very nice. For four of us it was unbelievable affordable for the amount of delicious food we had. We ordered two appetizers and four main course dinners plus we shared a desert, everyone was more than happy with there meals plus the hush puppies were top notch! Atmosphere was on the dark side but had some nice decorations that were nautical/Portsmouth themed! Banana pudding cheesecake is worth the trip alone!!!

(Late Review visited here back in Feb)Customer service was great! Food was okay, crab dip was NOT good at all, wouldn’t recommend but would suggest they try a different recipe. The rest of the food was as expected nothing to rave about. Will go again and try something else.

Nice, quaint, family-owned seafood spot on High Street. Menu prices are affordable and you get quality food, cooked to perfection! My hubby and I tried it for lunch last week and we loved the choices! The complimentary hush puppies, at the start, were bomb!

Good service, nice environment. With regards to food hush puppies were phenomenal, calamari was decent, entree not so much. Ordered their “Surf and Turf” New York Strip, topped with crab, most expensive item on their menu at $32, and expected it to be a knock out. While presentation was good, and the steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare), it was probably the most flavorless dish I have ever had. Completely lacked flavor or any type of seasoning. Disappointed to say the least.

I’m so glad we found this place. I wouldn’t call it fine dining, but it was delicious. You can’t beat their early bird prices and everything we had tasted great. Absolutely loved their sweet slaw. We’ve lived in VA for 7 years and haven’t found anyone else that makes it. Can’t wait to go back.
