In 1983, Durham native Stuart Henderson decided to travel north and open one of his original hot dog stands in Roxboro, NC. Five years later, Mr. Henderson built a beautiful restaurant with plenty of seating, a stained glass wall depicting a rural Person County scene, and a menu that boasted of homemade biscuits, burgers, sandwiches, BBQ and of course, hot dogs. Fast forward 37 years, and Stuart’s Family Grille is one of Roxboro’s signature family-owned restaurants. Our team is proud to continue Stuart’s legacy of serving quality food to all our Person County neighbors!

Enjoyed the food here, especially the biscuits. The biscuits and gravy combo with scrambled eggs was very tasty and the portions were very large. Service was friendly and fast. The tea unfortunately tasted old or the container had not been cleaned regularly, which was somewhat of a buzz kill. I still recommend this place and will try them again.

Cheesesteak (no bun) was good, fries were great, burger was average. Overall okay but wouldn’t stop again.

Biggest biscuit in Roxboro but dry. Did not ask how I’d like my eggs. Default scrambled dry. Counted 8 employees behind the counter. Counter order and self-service. Very clean. Ḍrive through busy.

Gravy biscuits are very tough if you order in the drive through. Has been for several months. I keep hoping it will get better, but it hasn’t. Biscuits are very old, not fresh. Go in and order is my advice, unless you like bread tougher than leather. Seems fresher for some reason.

Stuart’s used to be my favorite fast food restaurant to go to here in Roxboro. Since they changed the hours to closing at 5 during the week and on Saturday [which makes 0 sense, close early so your employees “can enjoy the sunshine”? (their words, not mine)], the service has also gone down tremendously. The last straw for me was last week when I came through the drive thru for my daughter and I. Very simple order. Fried chicken sandwich with cheese combo, plain hotdog combo. There were 2 cars in front of us when we ordered. We waited approximately 10 minutes before we got to the window. Upon arrival at the window, I was asked to pull up (assuming my order wasn’t ready). That wasn’t an issue. The issue is I then waited an additional 12 minutes, only for every car behind me (4) to be served immediately and for me to then have to reverse my car back to the window to receive my order. Did not receive any type of apology for the ridiculously long wait, and the manager was standing at the window. Again, said NOTHING. I have been going to Stuart’s for 20 years or better. I won’t be going back.

I had a Philly cheese steak with tator tots. Yum! This was my first visit but I am pretty sure I will be going back. FYI Right now home is 65 miles from here, but I expect to be moving closer soon…

Love the vegetables. Feels like comfort food when you get the platter. Fried okra are always hot! Love the gravy. Good old fashioned hot dogs as well! Everyone should try this out!
