Came here from Virginia and loved it! The gator appetizer was really good! The catfish filet was amazing and seasoned perfectly. I even saw a gator out back after dinner!

We’ve been hearing about this place since we moved and were happy to get a chance to try it. My husband had the mullet and liked it. My son and I tried the catfish fingers and thought they were good. We didn’t care for the room temperature coleslaw. The servers were nice and pretty quick given how busy the place was. The highlight of the meal was paying a visit to the pond out back where we saw an alligator.

What a FUN place for family dining. If you are looking for a QUIET, “romantic” place to pop the question…..this ain’t it. BUT, even on a busy (it’s rarely not busy) day, service is fast and friendly. Plenty of good food with options from fried to grilled. Hushpuppies were great. Lemonade tasted fresh -not powdery (that’s a BIG deal for me). Creamiest cheese grits ever. Take your pick: dill pickles or bread n butter pickles- it’s all there. We take out of town friends there all the time and they’ve always loved it. COME AS YOU ARE; WEAR COMFY EXPANDABLE PANTS because you are sure to STUFF yourself.

Side dishes were excellent. Main fare was ranged from over cooked to inedible. Took my family for first time. Been hearing about if for over 20 years. Wife and daughter ordered flounder. It came dried out and tough. She had to get it re cooked. It was still way over cooked to a slightly less degree, but it was not good. Flavor was not much. Poor seasoning. Daughter had same thing but she ate it because we had skipped lunch and she was hungry. I ordered the 25.00 seafood platter. Fries were cold. The whole catfish was so small it took two bites to eat. 3 small pieces. The shrimp was overcooked and tough. Not just tough, but dry and stringy. 4 shrimp. The scallops were better but breading was falling off. 5 or so of those. No flavor but a slightly fishy taste. The oysters were nearly black and falling to shreds and dry little nuggets. Maybe 4 small whole ones if added together. Mostly tiny little quarter sized pieces. The stuffed crab cake came looking good. But first bite I spit taked (nearly.) It was rancid in flavor. I smelled it. If you know bad seafood smell… this was it. My appetite was ruined after that. I sent most back except fish and scallops. My wife and daughter had cold fries too. The good: cheese grits, slaw, and hush puppies. The service was otherwise decent. Anything fried was not good. They did finally discount the final total. But it was a miserable dining experience on the taste buds. Will not go back unless I hear things are changed. We got there at 4:30 when they opened. They blamed the fresh grease.

All the food is excellent. The restaurant is clean and the staff are attentive. I recommend the catfish and gator. After dinner you can take a walk and see the sites and wildlife from a safe vantage point. Great place to take the entire family.

The only reason I didn’t give the food 5 stars is the copious amount of French fries they use to fill your plate. I’d prefer a little more main course or another side.
