We were passing through and had just finished the Elkin Creek Loop mtb trail (which was great!). Matty’s did not disappoint! Our server, Belle, was sweet and enthusiastic (she made me a Cheerwine fan). I enjoyed the beef tips. My wife had the chicken Philly and loved it. We ate WAY too much! We will stop by again!

Finally got to stop in the Diner a few weeks ago and was very impressed by the staff and the Plate I ordered. It was some of the best Flounder I’ve had in awhile. The Hushpuppies are great too. Onion Rings, Fries… Yummy.

Wow! Matty’s is great. Huge portions and they have the same price point as other local restaurants. Lots of parking to the rear of the restaurant, offers dine in and takeout. I’m happy we called our order in because there weren’t any tables left during lunch rush. We will definitely go back.

My husband and I decided to try this place last night. It was a bit busy since it was Valentine’s Day I guess. We waited over 45 minutes to get our food. That would have been fine but when we got our food…it wasn’t even hot. Just warm. Macaroni and cheese tasted like it was the frozen kind. The rolls seemed as if they had never been warmed to begin with. I had ordered a baked potato but they were out. I asked for mashed potatoes and gravy. I got my potatoes. Never got my gravy though. I was truly disappointed since it had good reviews on here.

I had a flounder plate with cloe slaw, fries, and hush puppies. I am a flounder type of person so maybe this is a tad harsh but the best thing on the plate was the fries. The tartar sauce was decent. The slaw was lacking a tad of each ingredient. The flounder was heavy which was okay but I’ll probably go with popcorn shrimp and side salad the next time I eat here. My second and third visits, I had the flounder again. Both times it was excellent. The fourth time in, I had a ceaser salad which is good and onion rings which were okay. . .only too greasy for me.
