The best Mexican restaurant in Chico. Been going for about 20 years now and can’t remember a bad meal. I highly recommend the huevos rancheros for breakfast. it’s less than $6.00 and one serving feeds my girlfriend and i easily.

No clue how this place has such good reviews. Maybe it was just a bad day for them when I came in. They gave my family a bunch of stale tortilla chips with canned tomato salsa. The meat in all of our meals was flavorless and very tough. Also the beans had a very odd taste to them almost like plastic. The sodas they gave us didn’t have any flavor since I guess their soda machine ran out or syrup. Then they ran out of cold beers. I just moved to Chico and thought I would try it out since it had good reviews and it was close to my new place. I regret ever coming here. Basically everything here was terrible. Would not reccommend at all.

Amazing locally owned gem. BOTH my partner and I have been eating here since we were tiny. The chimichangas are legend. They left this location years ago with the name Tacos Cortez, went to another location and then that location was bought by new owners who don’t know what they’re doing. The quality suffered. So grateful the owners reopened this location or this amazing food would have been lost forever.

Went there for the first time the other day and I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered the special of the day, the enchilada dinner, and my girlfriend ordered three carne asada tacos. It was really cheap, our order was just over $10 so I was expecting it to not be large servings, but as I looked around, I noticed everyone had huge servings.

Great Mexican food. Closed on Mondays but they have $5 specials every day. The tostada on Tuesday is absurdly large. Highly recommend as a great budget place to eat.

I have been going to Taco Cortes since the 90’s. Sr. Cortez is a wonderful cook. During my college experience I would go to Tacos Cortez for my lunch breaks. I have used their catering service as well for my parties. Lots of great food and is extremely economical. Thank you , Cortes family for the wonderful experiences. Highly recommend.

The most authentic medical food in Chico. The carne Asada is the best I’ve ever had. You may not get exactly what you pictured in your mind, as this is t a typical burrito/taco factory, but you won’t be disappointed! Fresh chips too!

My daughter had a bowl of menudo that was massive. She said that it had great flavor and worth the 7 dollars. She took half the serving home to her other sister. So in other words 1 large serving is perfect for two. I had the enchilada plate. Tgere were three tortillas with whole beans. The tortillas were warmed and dipped in a rich red chilie sauce before being filled with beans. On tge sude was a small bed of lettuce with a dallop of fresh guacamole. Rice and beans rounded tge plate out. The dish was hearty with plenty of leftovers.
