This is the best vinegar BBQ i’ve ever tasted. The hush puppies are great, the green beans are great, the coleslaw is great, the fried chicken dipped in the vinegar barbecue sauce is great, the pork is great and the only thing that isn’t great we don’t know cause we didn’t try it. This is worth pulling off the highway and stopping in for a nice lunch. And the people that work here are as sweet as the tea.

Local, authentic North Carolina BBQ at it’s finest. Fries were typical, but the candied yams and bread pudding were the best I’ve ever had in NC. Best pulled pork sandwhich I’ve ever had, period. Everyone was extremely hospitable, even other customers showed southern hospitality! Don’t miss out on this place if you’re passing through Rocky Mount.

I was heading in the opposite direction but was in a rush hungry! So I did what any self-respecting Southern boy would do –turned around to go and get some BBQ! Since I was driving, I opted for the pork bbq sandwich with their coleslaw on top. Mmmm-mmmm, I tell ya’! Grabbed a few of the hush puppy rings and banana pudding to top off the meal. The take-out area was small but everyone, staff and customers, was friendly. Didn’t take long at all to prepare my order, so I was on my way fairly quickly.

Bbq and slaw was delicious. Chicken pastry was a bit light on the chicken but the bits it did have were very solid

I had bbq, brunswick stew and hushpuppies. I’m giving a 5-star review for the bbq because it was really really good. However, I’ve never had sweet brunswick stew before and have to say I am not a fan. It was really, really sweet. By sweet I mean, imagine the sweetest tea you’ve ever had and it turned into brunswick stew while you were drinking it. It was so sweet I’m almost convinced someone either accidentally spilled a whole bag of sugar in it, or they put sugar instead of salt in it, or both. Either way I couldn’t bring myself to finish it.

The weather was nice so we got take out and sat at the picnic table outside under the shelter.

This is not a fancy place but the food is good. Due to covid I guess the dining area has just reopened. My wife got barbecue sandwich and I had pork chops and vegetables. She said her barbecue had a little bit too much vinegar so I shared my pork chops with her. She and I both made short work of the pork chop. The chops were very good and cooked perfectly. The price is very good and the food is good as well. I will go back

Fried fish is hot and delicious. Sides are NC country cooking. Small and limited seating but great food. Wife worships the chicken pastry. Hometown fav for a long time!
