Great food and fair pricing. Came across this restaurant by accident and decided to give it a try. After waiting in line for quite some time (this has happened to us various times, it is worth the wait but it won’t be quick. If you’re super hungry or in a hurry go someplace else).

Went in with low expectations but the food is super authentic and reminded me of hole-in-the-wall joints in Japan.

I love this place the service is always good and the food is even better. The oyster shooters with the quail eggs are amazing. The curry is always full of flavor and the sushi is always fresh. The building is a little old and the restaurant is very small. It’s not ideal for wheelchairs. They do not take reservations so make sure to come early. The parking lot is very tight but there is plenty of parking. There are signs everywhere to remind you not to leave valuables in the car. It’s also next to the light rail if you rather take that option. Definitely a must try.

This place exceeds our expectations every single time. After a long week of work, my boyfriend and I love to come here for some damn good sushi and some sake. The fish is so fresh and the service is great. Open late and there’s always a seat open for us.

my experience of this restaurant is very good, the service is good, the bar is a bit small with only 5 tables and a small bar. very good staff. the food is good but if you add miso soup it’s 3 bucks for a small bowl (usually other restaurants will be free). the food is great

I thought that because it was crowded with 3 parties waiting on the railway inside that it was gonna be a great bento box. I was so disappointed. I also thought it was gonna be authentic Japanese food. It wasn’t. The bento box was $15 base for 1 side or meat item and with tax $17 plus change. I have had much more food for $17 bento boxes. I was hungry after I finished the tiny side of salmon. It was done well. The sweet sauce was good on the salmon. The thin fried 2 shrimp tempura and veges were few. The sauce or tempura sauce was fine as it’s normal. But the side salad was really bad…just iceberg lettuce, tiny red cabbage sliced on top, 6 strings of pasta with mayo (who puts that on salad and it’s so unhealthy and unsavory), and 1 plum tomato. The worst part was the dressing which was like tahini with sesame seed ground up and mayo with salt. That was the worse Japanese bento box dressing I ever had. Thick w mayo and a weird taste with my few pieces of lettuce w cabbage and mayo drenched 6 strings of pasta. Weird. I only ate it bc I was starving and I was not about to waste anyone before getting to my hotel in Oakland from San Jose where the restaurants were closing by 10pm. The piece of salmon was actually the smallest piece of salmon I ever had in a bento box. It was like 2 oz maybe. Still really hungry after that. The miso soup esas also very tiny. Usually if you get take out you get a bigger container but this was the tiny one (see pic). I should have just gotten the bento box from the neighboring Japanese place that had less people Joduku Sushi. Next time bc I won’t be returning to this place. And the waiter got mad at me for w waiting to sign my receipt inside the seating area bc that’s where the waitress took my to go order bc I didn’t have time to wait for a table in the cold and she didn’t ask me to wait by the railway but I still gave the waitress a 20% tip for a take out dish of $3.50 bc I have been a waitress and it’s nice to get a tip even for just a takeout. There’s better deals for $17 bento boxes. And I washed the take out containers to recycle them.

Got the salmon sashimi bento w/ chicken teriyaki and ton katsu. The order was for takeout, and everything was well packaged and accurate. The tempura was 8/10, the chicken teriyaki was 8/10, the ton katsu was 8.5/10, and the sashimi was 7.5/10. The salad had some very tasty cold noodles on it and came with a good dressing, making it the surprise hit of the meal (8.5/10). Their bento boxes might be one of the best deals for a good Japanese dinner around. Will be back soon.

I don’t know where to begin, I’m a bento box fanatic. The terriyake chicken did not taste fresh and was fairly cold: the sauce felt more like terriyake watered out sauce instead of a rich thick tasty glaze. The salad sauce wasn’t very delicious and had to add my personal sesame sauce to fix the flavor. The sushi had a minuscule avocado and I know California rolls aren’t this poor for the price range: taste wise it was ok. The tempura was tasty and probably the best thing I liked out of my dinner. For my personal experience there are better bento box restaurants for way less. They might have better dishes but for me I wouldn’t come back for a bento box.
