What a terrific lunch. Melinda was our server and she was awesome. She knew the menu and gave us outstanding recommendations. The margaritas were skinny, spicy, and blood orange. The chips, guacamole and salsa could have been the total meal. We had the perfect table, but really, there is no bad table there. Perfect day!

This place lived to the expectations. The food tastes very authentic, the drinks were very well balanced and the ambiance is exactly what you would expect from a beach city.

Coasterra is always an experience. The changing landscape of downtown as the sun sets a the night comes alive is one of the most amazing backdrops any restaurant could ask to have. Coasterra leverages that setting and builds on it. The service is ALWAYS exceptional and tonight was no exception. While all of the appetizers are well prepared and flavorful,my favorite is the Mussels and Clams in the most amazing broth I have ever had. Put the bread down and just give me a soup spoon. Tonight’s entree was one of the lighter entrees and welcome so. The Rainbow Trout was one of the most moist and tender I have had lately.

The view and ambiance at this restaurant is top shelf. The service is pretty good, our waiter was not the friendliest we have had and had a bit of a dismissive style. My wife and I came with another couple and started with 4 margarita, which were amazing and are highly recommended, also a good portion size. We had two starters, first was the empanadas, which were not very good and I recommend you skip these. The tuna starter was large and delicious and I highly recommend. For the main, we ordered salmon, chicken, and scallops. The salmon came with a mole, which was the highlight, quinoa, and a picked zucchini. The salmon was over cooked, and a bit mushy. My wife’s scallops were large and very tasty, she recommends. My friend had bone-in chicken which was large portion, succulent, and delicious. Overall, I think I do recommend trying Coasterra, but there are opportunities for them to improve.

Contrary to my 1 or 5 star policy, I’m going to give this place a four. I’ve been looking forward to going to this place for a while and I wasn’t wow’d as much as I expected and as much as I was by their co-owned Island Prime. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was very nice. Our server was meh, he did not check up on us as much as you would expect for a $$$ place. Our drinks sat empty for 30 minutes without any stop by. No mention of the happy hour when we arrived. No reminder that our kids meals came with ice cream. Small things that make an expensive experience seem more enjoyable. Margaritas start at $15 and go up from there. Happy Hour Margs are only $10 same with the guac so it’s a good deal, Monday – Friday 3:30 – 5:30 PM. My wife had the chicken and I had the carnitas and we both really enjoyed the food. The kids had quesadillas and we added chicken to them. The kids meals came with fries and ice cream for $10.

Wonderful location. The view is absolutely spectacular. Water front views of Downtown San Diego. Easy and free parking on site. You need to make reservations to be seated. Weird menu and seemed more of a place to have expensive drinks vs food. The price point is very high but the clientele dressed super casual (jeans, t-shirts and leggings) didn’t make sense. The patio is super noisy ! I almost felt like we were yelling to each other to be able to hear clearly. I would recommend sitting inside. Wonderful service although I’m used to quiet and more attentive staff for the price point. We ordered a steak for 2 platter with 3 sides for $160 plus surcharge of 5% VERY EXPENSIVE vs other restaurants. Food was delicious but definitely not the best steak I’ve had. Overall would come here to get drinks and happy hour. That would be the most reasonable!

Fantastic Oceanside Mexican restaurant! Great drinks and food at relatively reasonable prices. The view doesn’t get any better. The appetizers were awesome. Cheese queso, calamari and guacamole were great. I filled up on this stuff bc alone. I did get to try the carne asada, which was heavily salted and seasoned just how I like it. Great option when visiting San Diego.

Excellent view. I stopped there on my way to the airport. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. They provide plenty of chips to start off. Good drink selection. I highly recommend the salmon. I will definitely be back next time I’m in SD.

Amazing experience. Arrived early and the hostess was not only funny but accommodated us quickly and with a choice of seating! Drinks were perfectly balanced and deadly (read: too good to only have 1). Waitress was very attentive and helpful. Food was fantastic and well balanced. Scallops were presented like art work. Carnitas were crispy on the outside and deliciously moist on the inside. Butter cake was .. my goodness .. wow! Perfectly complimented with cinnamon ice cream. The views are mouth dropping. Overall excellent experience and well worth the money.

This was my first visit to Costerra. I was in town for a conference. My co-worker & I decided to have lunch close to the conference since we had an afternoon session to attend.
