Had Turkey wing and dressing, yams, greens , macaroni and cheese, and cornbread. It was all just okay. Nothing to write home about. The Turkey was over microwaved and shredded and being a cook myself that usually means it been warmed over too many times. The food was Luke warm even though we waited over 30 minutes for it. But for me like always customer service which is the key to business, would detour me from going back. The cashier/first point of contact was rude and unbothered. Just an unpleasant presence. I understand working with customers can be daunting and extra but it’s what you choose. She definitely needed a break. Before we left we watched her gobble down some Koolaof and some food standing up behind the register. Just not a good look. Maybe she was hangry. Idk but not cute.

4 1/2 stars for the quality of the food… My second time here with my Husband. I must warn you… you will be waiting a while… although online it states the hours of operation are from 11:30am-5:00pm … my Husband called and tried to place an order at 11:45am and he was told they won’t open until 12:30-12:45… I hate to say this but in my experience of dealing with” Black owned” establishments it seems as if they create their own schedules whenever without notifying the public… Overall we are here still waiting in line right now it’s 1:29pm we arrived at 12:20pm.. the food is good and the portions are larger than expected… I guess you can say it’s worth the wait if you are patient 1:47pm I finally was able to order

Service: We ordered the turkey legs with Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes and greens. First let me say the customers service is very poor. The lady who answered the phone wouldn’t give us a time to expect our food to be ready nor was I given the price until arrival. Upon arrival all the ladies were arguing with one another and talking to the customers like they weren’t customers at all.

Food is always on point. Best meatloaf and yams I’ve ever had. But their understaffed and if you have something else to do you might want to go ahead of time because their old folks and they move slow. But other than that food is good

I don’t understand the expense and time invested in opening a business and the owners not offering not only quality products but quality service. The wait time was horrendous at the Desoto location but now! We went one Sunday afternoon and had to wait almost an hour past the posted opening time! There were others in line that said that’s common! Sure there maybe those who come back for the food but you’re going to loose a lot of customers because of the lousy service. What business purposely does that?

I’ve been making my way around the area testing out different eating places and let me tell you right now! McKenzie’s Kitchen is my #1 Soul Food spot. This is the only soul food restaurant I keep coming back to. The food is delicious. It has a southern quality that has your taste buds wanting to try everything on the menu. The food is expertly plated and the personalities of the staff have a family feel that make you feel at home.

It’s sad seeing McKenzie’s is temporarily closed. I loved their smothered pork chops. I live a hour away, it was always worth the drive!

Customer service, communication and order process is disappointing. The food is amazing, unfortunately after so many opportunities we have given this restaurant, the customer service is a must. Unfortunately we are no longer customers at this establishment and have opted to dine in at other establishments that have exceptional customer service and fantastic food.

Food was delicious! I am definitely a fan. True soul food! Only gave 4 stars because they opened late and everything wasn’t ready upon opening. Other than that, its worth waiting for. Get there early!
