Over 20 years ago, our founder Josh Vach visited the coast of California. He went with a desire to find the perfect wave and enjoy the amazing authentic Mexican food that California has to offer. When he returned, Josh set out on a new adventure to bring those same authentic Baja flavors to his coastal home in North Carolina. Fueled by his life changing trip, K38 Baja Grill, which was named after his favorite surfing spot at the Km marker 38 in Baja, was born.
Today, we continue to nurture and respect the love and passion that Josh put into his restaurant through our food and atmosphere in the hopes that you too can experience what our founder found so special about Baja, California.

First timer here and it was good, not great. Presentation was great, but taste was just ok for me. The beef tacos were tough but the tuna tacos were good. And a bit too pricey for what you get.

Got here around 4:15 for an early dinner… no wait & lots of seating. That wasn’t the case when we left. Our server was wonderful…cheerful & attentive, even while training a new employee. Nice, casual atmosphere.

Was not too impressed when checked in at host stand; the attitude and energy wasn’t a good vibe. However our server made up for it and the food was a come back for

Good luck finding better salsa. Their house picante sauce is also excellent and just the right combo of heat and sweet. I had the quesadilla on special, which happened to be jerk chicken. It was delicious! I didn’t get queso dip on this visit, but I highly recommend as well. Everything on the menu so far has been a winner. Tropical Lightning IPA on tap is a nice touch. Wait staff is always excellent; thanks Bryce!

After all these years, this restaurant still has it! We hadn’t been there in about 2-years, but went back last week and it was still great. The Bowl was so much food and the fried fish was amazing. It’s definitely a restaurant that has a lot of great menu items – start with the guacamole!

Just got a large queso and it was literally less than a quarter full. I’ve gotten it multiple times so I know it’s supposed to be full. Asked server if I could have an actual order that was full and she rudely told me that “I should be happy I got any since everyone else was eating inside and not Togo and tipping their server for it” which I thought was just an odd thing to say on top of being rude.

K38 has become our go to spot for great food and fabulous service! Their tacos are awesome and creative. Be sure to ask for the secret sauce! The margaritas are delicious! Service is great and super fast! Don’t fill up on the chips and homemade salsa before your meal!

My food was okay, it was not hot. I still ate it because, I was hungry. The chips and dip were good. Our waitress was nice and polite.

Nice ambiance as you enter the star lite casa -like restaurant with tantalizing smells! The special was a sweet mix of chicken & beef with lots of flavor! The enchilada was filled with good, grilled chicken and the tangy taste of tomatillo sauce & cheese with a side of their famous street corn!
