Have dined here multiple times since their opening. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive and the food is always delicious. The Charcuterie for 2 makes a great dinner for one. Even better when paired with one of their excellent wines (the Bordeaux is my favorite!). And the Smore’s Tart is a perfect end to the meal. Definitely recommend!

We ordered the vegetable lasagna ( an entree – $28 ) as a shareable appetizer. Looked very good online. Totally disappointed because there were more puff pastry than vegetables with 2:1 ratio. There was a couple slices of zucchini, a slice of carrots and a slice of eggplant. We were very surprised. Pesto on the side was a good accompaniment. Bread was slightly stale , although the tapenade served as a spread was good. Chicken mole was well seasoned and delicious. Southern fried chicken was boneless and average. Served with pickled vegetables and biscuit. Biscuit was stale and dry. Service was good but slow. Each glass of wine took at least 15 minutes. Staff was friendly and engaging. The ambiance was very inviting.

My husband’s NY strip was done to perfection and served with delicious mushrooms and potatoes. My salad of summer greens, fresh berries, and goat cheese topped with grilled chicken could not have been better. This is a gem of a place with a lovely atmosphere, excellent service, and the perfect food and wine combinations. The menu offers an amazing variety, including options for children. Don’t miss this!

Had a wonderful dinner with my wife during a weekend getaway to Pittsburgh. We always stay at the Joinery and this visit we decided to eat at Christian James. The meal, service and atmosphere was better than some of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh. We will definitely be back. In fact today, we look forward to trying their breakfast offerings.

I want to start off by saying our bartender Antonia was wonderful. If it wasn’t for her I would have rated the place a zero. She was polite and professional. None of our food came out correctly. Most of it could have been looked past because I’m not too picky but my steak (68$) was prepared mid well + instead of mid rare which I asked for. I cut into the steak twice without taking a bit to check it. I told the bartender. She apologized and said she will take it back. When she came back she said it will be another 20 mins plus another 5 to rest so I told her I didn’t have the time to wait bc we had other plans. She said she was taking it off the bill and threw the streak in the trash. Irritating but things happen. Another woman came up to us and apologized and said it was taken off the bill. We were finishing what we had and the manager Sarah came up to us to ask about our experience. At first we thought it was to apologize for the mishap with the steak but then we soon realized she was upset we didn’t take the steak. She said the owner Kimberly Ashley made it her self and that it wasn’t wrong bc it temped 120 degrees 30 mins after being plated!! Outback could have produced a better steak unfortunately. Sarah was completely rude. Asked if we knew what a mid rare steak was and said she had it in the back. Which we watched the bartender throw it away bc she could tell the steak wasn’t prepared correctly. Sarah went back and told the owner and came back to say they are not comping the steak and not making a new one. We asked to speak with the owner and she said she had just left. I wouldn’t have been happy but I could have delt with the meal not being up to par if the customer service wasn’t so terrible. Sarah told us she was just the middle man and doesn’t have control over what the owner does after being so rude herself. We asked for the owners name so we could call the next day and she refused to give it to us saying it’s all over the menu which we no longer had. She was upset we asked. We asked for a piece of paper and she wouldn’t give us that either. Then we asked why she was refusing to give us her name and she replied she wasn’t and handed us a menu and told us it was on the menu once again. We were more than polite about everything and to be met with such disrespect and hostility was unfathomable! I have never been to an establishment where a manger acted like this. She even asked if our bartender put everything in correctly. Why would WE know that? Even if she didn’t that’s not OUR problem. Completely unprofessional and I think throwing a co worker under the bus for a kitchen mistake is terrible. I’m not sure if it really was the owner in the back but if it was that is a true shame. How are you still in business? If you’re not remaking a steak after throwing it away when not one bit was taken how can you still charge for the steak or not come speak with your customers? We called this morning but got no answer. Better luck somewhere else. Extremely disappointed.

Service was ok. Food was sub-par and over cooked. Bar charges 2 dollars to shake your drink and 3 dollars for lime juice. Never again. Response to owner: No, the server did not offer to re-cook the steak she barely checked on us the whole meal. The pork chop that my boyfriend had ordered medium was also overcooked. And a hendrix gimlet has never been 16 dollars anywhere we have ordered it.

Meghna won a wine tasting and it was great! There were 5 courses with different pairings of wines. The pairings were great as well! It was also a wine lesson. One thing I can remember is that white wine goes with white meat and red wine for red meat. That was really cool for my first wine tasting. Appreciate it Josh! We will be back
