Excellent tamales and wonderful service. They offer a ton of different hot sauces to try with the tamales. The sell the hot sauces too.

Great tamales. My abuela used to hand make her own tamales and always has an olive in them. Just a little detail that made me feel like the cared. Also, had a lot of different sauces plus a tasting section to find out before you buy what you like. Great service!

Some folks are going to really the tamales here and some folks aren’t going to be impressed by them… it all depends on what you expect from a tamale… as their tamales do not have as much meat/vegetable filling as other places I’ve tried. I felt the corn masa they use is very good, much better than most other tamales I’ve had, and far superior to the masa of frozen grocery store bought tamales. If you can’t handle a lot of spice or tomato paste due to dietary issues there are good options for you. I was rather impressed with the flavor and texture of their sides of cabbage slaw and their beans, I seldom get excited by sides at Mexican restaurants, but these were some of the best sides I’ve had at a Mexican place in quite awhile. Overall I enjoyed my meal but would have appreciated a fair bit more filling inside my tamales for the price.

What can I say? Most delicious tamales I’ve ever had, and probably the most impressive display of great hot sauces I’ve ever seen. Picked up some Ghost of Saffron and I am a happy guy. Thank you to the wonderful people that operate this place.

I used to LOOOOVE Tucson Tamale Company…they had the only tamales I’ve ever liked. I hadn’t been in a while since they closed the locations closest to me. I made the trek up to Oro Valley last week and their tamales were so disgusting! I was so disappointed. One of the tamales I purchased was the jalapeno/cheese tamale. In the past these oozed cheese. The one I had last week had NO cheese at all and the masa was pastey like it never finished cooking. The red chili beef ones barely had meat and SUPER THICK masa that was so overly dry. I don’t know what happened to this place or who’s making their tamales now, but they need to go back to the old way.

So, the “server” was flirting with a young woman, and was not bothered that a line was forming. During this time, did not take their order until he was done chatting. So wait time just kept increasing. I walked out without being served. Plus, server had wild hair, looked dirty, no net or hat. Gross. Tamales may be good, but I’d buy them in a store and skip the disasterous restaurant. Don’t be fooled by reviewers related to the staff

We were in town visiting friends, who told us we must try Tucson Tamales. Unfortunately, we drove around town looking for an open location, and the first two locations were closed. The Tanque Verde location was supposed to close for good the following day, but apparently they closed one day early without updating the website.

This place is the real deal. The staff was so incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the tamales (vegetarian and vegan options!) with the slaw and Spanish rice were delish. Cool hot sauce fridge and lots of other local food stuff to buy, tamales to bring home.
