I thought this was a great, not outstanding meal. It really should have been the latter given the price point. Cocktails and the wine list were both creative. Apps – I would pass on the appetizers. We had oysters that were akin to a deconstructed poor boy. Oysters, watercress, tartar sauce and a shaved fancy cheese. Oysters were perfectly fried. Crab dip, while ultra creamy, felt like something you can pick up in most New England pubs. Mains – Mains were excellent. The short ribs and accompanying Black eyed peas were a favorite. Melt in your mouth tender short rib. The halibut special with lobster risotto was the taste of summer with large chunks of fresh lobster. The fried chicken well seasoned but got a little lost on the dish, though I could decide whether the watermelon arugula salad was off-putting or adorable. It did not do much for the dish. Service – our waiter took some time to get to our table. He was nice but did not do much more than get the order. I noticed because I had a visitor from another country and it was hard for her to navigate the drinks menu and he offered limited help.

A local recommended this spot and it did not disappoint. Did not have a reservation but got seats at the bar. Nice open layout to the restaurant. Spacious bar with a good selection of drinks and spirits. Kevin the bartender was very attentive in spite of being busy.

Food was 1st rate – limited menu so would not recommend for kids or younger in a party. Great bar, outstanding cocktails, and the food was excellent. People in my party were not crazy about the atmosphere. It was loud, not cozy, rock ‘n roll oriented but with high class food. I’m neutral about the atmosphere yet understood their point. It was hard to tell what vibe they were going for. Bar was great, service was attentive, and again, the food was excellent. Drink menu was very good including NA choices.

Sensory overload. Loud. Quite boomy music, echoey, mismatched chairs and tables, old random decorations, baseball caps, dried roses covering the ceiling, mismatched votives on walls, holiday lights, old magazine articles paper mache all over pillars…it’s a lot. On the other hand, the food was very good. Greens and burrata was surprisingly good and tasty, even though it looked like it would be boring. Many flavors, herbs and surprising tastes sneaked in and vinaigrette was good. My vegetarian dish was pretty tasty, and my husband’s tuna was done well. So, the food is good, yet the vibe is not for everyone.

Arrived for 9 pm res and noise indoors was way too loud for our party to converse without raising our voices and the waitress had to raise hers to be heard. They generously moved us to porch, which helped a lot. But then the pace was off; they brought food before even our cocktails and apparently we needed to hurry to order before kitchen closed; it was hard to relax and staff seemed too busy or tired to be able to pace things comfortably. Food was really delicious but for that kind of money I was a little disappointed.

Honest to god, this was one of the best meals the four of us had in a LONG time. Everyone got some type of seafood and it was cooked to perfection. Not cheap, but so so so worth it

Very poor experience at the front desk. We had booked weeks in advance for a later weeknight seating. When we arrived, we were told the only table available was the one by the kitchen next to the waiter station in the back. Clearly the restaurant was half empty, and at 8:30 on Oak Bluff’s, there is no late crowd on Tuesday nights. Hostess, with a second helping of attitude, was adamant that she was saving the other empty tables in case large parties showed up. We ate elsewhere. On our way home on hour later, we had to walk by the place, only to see more empty tables. It was a real missed opportunity. For them.

I don’t like to use superlatives really… And I’d absolutely consider myself a foodie. But I can unequivocally say: this was one of the top 5 meals I’ve had in my entire life. Holy moly. I was almost in tears when I had the first bites.

Slap Yo Momma Good Food and Phenomenal Service from Erin!! We went to Red Cat to celebrate my mother’s birthday as we took a chance on the New York strip dish with butter poached lobster tail. When I tell you we had no regrets, I mean it. Before the meal arrived, we were having a robust conversation but after the first bite, we were silently focused on enjoying every tasty morsel. I’m a picky eater especially when there’s a mix of flavors and textures. It all worked. Bravo to the chefs. We will be back.
