We meant to go to the Guggenheim, then tried the Met -but the summer guests to our city laid claim to the exhibits before we would be able to view them on Saturday. We had already eaten dinner, but we wanted a couple of drinks (read: rounds) to stay out. We came upon L’Osteria walking up Lexington and it was just the prescription for our disappointment. Andrew (“Wolf”) was a superb host to our two or three rounds, during which each member of the service staff made a point to greet us and make us feel welcome while we were sitting at the small bar. We didn’t end up pulling the trigger on Second Dinner with the Burrata or Meatballs, but we will be back- judging by the overly content smiles on the UES ladies faces dining behind us.

Lovely food, this quaint Italian restaurant is located just South to 86th street.

The staff was wonderful but food across the board was okay. We liked the burrata, then ordered pesto & the pollo. The chicken was really pink when it came out, but we were assured it was cooked through. The potatoes were nothing special, the chicken was super moist but otherwise average. The pesto tasted fresh, but basic and with no ability to add a protein not the most ideal dinner.

Probably some of the best meatballs I’ve had. My chicken Milanese was delicious and the arugula balsamic salad with it was fresh. Great meal.

I was told by a resident that l’osteria has the best Italian food on the upper east side. I cannot dispute that opinion. The food was wonderful and fresh. The service was impeccable and the wine recommendations were spot on. Next time I’m in New York City, I fully intend to go back.

Stopped in for a late lunch and everything was wonderful. The staff was welcoming and the food will now keep me coming back. The beet salad was delicious and the ricotta filled ravioli with mushrooms, sage butter sauce, and fresh black pepper was absolute perfection! So comforting on a cold winter day. Highly recommend!

Wow!!! Excellent food but even better service!!! The 2 guys were amazing, we came with our family of 7. We started outside but one member of the party got overheated, they found a way to seat us inside. They are amazing at there job and L’Osteria is lucky to have great waiters!! We will be back again just because of the service. Thank you guys!!

Sat outside and had a nice lunch. Didn’t realize how small it was inside. Food was spot on. The beet salad with chicken was delicious. I would say it was a little overdressed with the pesto but all good. The zucchini blossoms with ricotta were wonderful and packed with ricotta. Didn’t try the pasta’s which I probably should have but all good next time.

Enjoyed my meal and cosmo (was a little too red). The service is where my 1 star is from. I left feeling extremely disrespected and overall blown away by the way he spoke to customers. Will never be returning.

Excellent food, as always! However, their reservation system is very poor. I had made a reservation for 7:00 PM for two, IN PERSON, three days before going to the restaurant. The reservation was entered into the computer by the man at the desk. They even sent me a text to confirm the reservation, which I did. When I arrived at the restaurant tonight, Friday, I was told that I had to wait 45 minutes for the table inside. Every table was taken. I reminded them that I had made a reservation. They said I should have reserved one week before, which no one had told me when I made the reservation. The restaurant has an outdoor shed with tables. The maitre’d pointed to an available table in the shed. When my friend and I went to sit there, the table was taken by someone else. In addition, those in charge were rude and unprofessional. L’ Osteria, you must fix your reservation system! There are many restaurants with excellent food BUT with a good and welcoming reservation system. I shall consider those in the future.
