As an Italian, I can confidently say that Mona Lisa Mare e Monti is the epitome of authentic Italian cuisine in San Francisco. Nestled in the heart of Little Italy, this gem is not to be missed. From the first bite, it was clear that the food is crafted with love and the finest ingredients, taking me on a culinary journey straight to Italy.

I had the pleasure of dining at Mona Lisa Mare e Monti in North Beach, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of sophistication that set the tone for the evening.

We had refreshingly fast and attentive service at Mona Lisa Mare E Monte. All of the fresh pasta was delicious! Cocktails were well crafted, and the tiramisu was lovely. Authentically Italian, great vibe.

My sister and I had a late lunch at Mona Lisa Mare E Monte. Everything was a delight! We both had the special, Lasanga, and we shared a pear and gorgonzola salad with balsamic dressing. For dessert we shared a tiramisu and both had a cappuccino. You will be looking at around $40-50 per person without alcohol. Our server was friendly and attentive, the restaurant had huge murals of, you guessed it, the Mona Lisa, as well as other famous Itallian art. We sat beside the open air window where you can watch people go by. It was also nearby to where you can hop on or off of the cable car of you don’t want to hike too much! I only have good things to say about this lovely place.

Everything here deserves five stars! Their service is excellent and their food is so flavorful! The artwork that adorns the walls and the ceiling of this place is delightful! The free bread that they served was pleasingly soft. The safron tonarelli was chewy and full of surprising flavors of sauces and soft meat. The wine list is great. Would definitely recommend this place!

Excellent Italian food with very friendly waitstaff and a good amount of outdoor dining (although the latter is primarily for parties of 2-3, not sure if they can rearrange the tables to accommodate larger parties). I had the pappardelle al cinghiale (with slow roasted wild boar shoulder), which was delicious — the meat was so tender, and the pasta was perfectly al dente. Wife got the linguine alla vongole, and she also noted the pasta was done perfectly. Daughter got the Caesar salad, with big crisp leaves of Romaine and tangy dressing. We had no room for dessert, but the menu was really tempting, so we’ll have to try it next time! Prices are kind of high, but not surprising considering how popular the area is, and I thought it was worth it. A good place for a date or a nice dinner with friends.

We’ve spent the last few days in San Francisco and this place is far and above our favorite restaurant we’ve been to. We ordered the lobster tail and lasagna and both were INCREDIBLE. The lobster bisque sauce was out of this world. If we make it back to San Francisco again, I WILL be eating here.

I wanted to love it but couldn’t. I had the linguini with clam sauce and if you took the clam shells of the plate, the amount of pasta was no more than you would get with a side serving. Literally. It had flavor but the sauce was very dry. Just a very little liquid at the bottom of the plate. Dessert portion of lava cake was small as well. I was very disappointed, especially since this was not a cheap meal. I wouldn’t eat there again.
