This place is great. The reservation is a must. The dinner is all you can eat sides and appetizers, but you must buy a protein from the available options. We bought the sampler platter and ohh my it was a ton of food for 2 people and 1 kids. We had two kids so needed to get one more kids meal. The food was excellent. The service was also very good, but for the price it better be expected.

The food was very good and the wait staff is attentive and kind. The fried chicken and sides were great. The atmosphere is nice and southern. One issue is there is no non-dairy option for dessert, only the ice cream sammie. They were able to take a reservation for 12 which was good although the room we were placed in was in the back/on the side of the building and staff was coming in and out of the door next to our table with bins of dishes. Also, the bathroom is old so beware when flushing.

The staff was wonderful & this is a popular, busy place. It is efficiently run. We had heard it had the best chicken ever. Unfortunately, we were really disappointed with the favors. Although the chicken was juicy, it was just plain flavorless. The mashed potatoes were runny and again just plain flavorless – same with gravy. The biscuits were great. The initial course was pretty good. I really wanted to be able to recommend this place because the staff was so good, but I just can’t. They need to improve their recipes.

We had a delicious meal and a fabulous experience from start to finish at The Slogar. We had the good fortune to spend a few minutes at the bar before our table was ready. We sat next to whom we later learned was the co-owner and had a fun conversation with her and the bartender. I was a little concerned when I saw the menu was “family style” but it allowed us to sample a number of starters and sides in addition to our entrees. The cottage cheese with the tomato compote was an amazing combination. I wish I could guy the compote. Their fried chicken was out of this world. Great service, great food. This restaurant is a gem!

Great fried chicken and sides. Plenty to eat. On busy nights, may need to use “open table” for reservations. Parking can be a challenge so you may have to walk. Awesome experience.

Perfect homestyle cooked food with a gourmet touch- everything is excellent here with their signature fried chicken as a must. I also get the ribeye which is one of the best quality ribeyes you’ll get in CB.

Great restaurant in Created Butte. I don’t feel like the photos and other reviews do this place justice. We went in expecting just a run of the mill fried chicken restaurant but Slogar is quite the experience. Everything is delicious. They had starters on the table when we arrived and the good food just kept coming. Will have to make this place a regular stop when we are in town.

THIS. Do this. In a place surrounded by natural wonders and “highlights,” The Slogar ended up being one of the more memorable moments of our trip. The family style dinner with Coors original in stubby bottles while packed into a capacity restaurant that, still, somehow managed to make us feel like we were at Grandma’s kitchen table was a dining experience we won’t forget. After a long day of hiking, the piping hot, crispy fried chicken was the perfect way to refuel and unique side items like rich cottage cheese and poached pears perfectly complimented the meal. There was a significant wait to get in so definitely consider calling ahead – but don’t miss this spot if traveling Crested Butte. It’s a must.

This is hands down the BEST fried chicken dinner in Colorado! And I’ve had them all so I can attest to this with confidence. I had the pleasure of eating here since attending college down the valley back in the 90’s and every summer and winter when I visit CB. It’s not just the chicken that is amazing but all the sides, especially the absolutely divine poached pears. I hope they reopen and never close in my lifetime.
