Must go to for authentic Italian. Fresh burrata with mortadella slices for appetizer, and Gluten free GF mixed seafood spaghetti for the wife and a sage buttered pear ravioli with a side of polenta for this guy! Excellent service. Dim and quiet atmosphere perfect for a romantic evening out. Must see!

Great meal here with our 7 year old who was the only kid in the whole place while we were there. Food was very good particularly the pasta dishes. Service was lovely, helpful and kind but not at all pretentious. Prices were so reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food and drinks. Very satisfying meal. We’ll return on another trip to Portland.

I have to say that Trattoria Gallo Nero provides one of the most authentic experiences in Portland, when it comes to Italian cuisine. The restaurant organized a special event, featuring the wines of Franco Serra, paired with the chef’s 4 course meal! The chef, cooks, servers and the rest of the staff are kind and attentive, plus the food is magnificent! Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Food is out of this world, service is amazing, atmosphere doesn’t hurt either! All in all a great place to get lunch or dinner if you want real Italian food with dynamic flavors.

The restaurant has a lovely elegant atmosphere. ✨ We had the Spaghetti Ai Frutti Di Mare (Bongole), Lasagna, Branzino Al Limone (Fish Special) and Tiramisu for dessert. All of them looked and tasted good and full of flavor. The dessert tiramisu was also in a glass and had a different flavor. The espresso was very rich and delicious. Especialy, even my husband, who doesn’t usually drink cocktails, liked the Brooklyn Cocktail, saying it had a good bourbon flavor. I would like to come back next time for our anniversary. I would recommend making a reservation as the restaurant was full shortly after we arrived.

Came in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were able to get a table right away, though I’m sure the situation differs for dinner. They offer a wide variety of authentic Italian food ranging from appetizers, entrees, and dessert. We really enjoyed the meal overall, everything tasted great! I highly recommend you top the meal off with a delicious cappuccino if you still have room.

Second time at this restaurant. The food was good but the soup was awful! Minestrone is easy to make and should have flavor. The vegetables were like mush and the broth tasted like dishwater. I took one bite. Told the waiter it was terrible. He took it away but didn’t ask if I wanted a different soup or something else. In addition, we were charged for something completely inedible. Will not be returning.

Food was great. Service was good. Owner swung by and said hello. Very relaxed atmosphere and no pressure to hurry, decide, eat, leave, etc. Not stuffy or fancy just to be fancy. Everything is high quality and done well. So upscale casual?

One of the most authentic Italian dining experiences we’ve had in Portland. Everyone on the staff was kind and attentive, and every item we ordered was fantastic. Don’t skip the tiramisu!
