One of our go to places for Peruvian food in the Bay Area! This last visit did not disappoint.

I love their arroz con pollo! The chicken is never dry and the seafood is amazing. The staff is friendly and the service is relatively quick. 100% recommended restaurant.

Authentic Peruvian food! This is as close to a classic “Restaurante Criollo” as it can get outside Peru. They have kept their doors open for many years for a good reason, where others have failed (sadly) Estampas Peruanas have succeeded.

We went to this restaurant on Sunday and tried a couple of things. The food tasted very fresh, and was cooked well. The main thing they did wrong was the temperature of the steaks, they were basically all underdone. My husband asked for the steak well done, and they gave him a medium to medium rare. The other ones were between a medium to medium well. Only one came out without any pink out of 5.

Nice decoration and good food, we enjoyed the ceviche a lot. Lomo saltado was also good, paella was soso to me (i prefer Spanish paella).

Went to eat here for the first time for lunch. The food looked amazing and the restaurant looked beautiful. The Peruvian music made me nostalgic and brought memories from childhood. A couple issues with the food though. The anticuchos were cooked on the outside and pretty red/bloody inside. The paella de mariscos/seafood paella wasn’t flavorful and we had to add quite a bit of salt to feel something. The ceviche did not taste fresh. I did let the waitress know that the onions smelled rancid and the rancid flavor carried throughout the dish but she just acknowledged it. Maybe it wasn’t a good day for the chef, but for the price point my expectations were a bit higher. Might give them a second chance in the future.

I asked for aji de gallina and they didn’t have it so I asked for chicken “lomo saltado” . But it looked like it was cooked a day before. I really was disappointed.

My Peruvian grandmother always used to make me “sopa a la minuta” and I was looking for a Peruvian restaurant which served that for lunch.

Big portions, lots of tables, great for groups. If you’ve never had Peruvian before, try what we ordered. Best overall I’ve had in the bay area even compared to some more “hip and upscale” places. We tried the Anticuchos (beef hearts), Papa de huancaina, lomo saltado, and pesto spaghetti with breaded beef. Rice pudding and lucuma ice cream for desert.

The food was pretty good. Definitely better than most Peruvian food in San Jose. Prices are reasonable. Lomo saltado was a little more tough than other places. Drinks took so long that the food came out first. Even though we were sitting in front of the counter/kitchen, we had to ask a few times for our drinks.
