Preparing for my return flight and wanted to take home some Oxtails, rice and peas, plantains and some frozen beef patties. Googled one place which turned out to be a food truck that only served my desired meal on the weekends. I ended up at MBY Jamaican Cuisine in Brownsville Crossing where my request was filled. Yasmin took my order and was very friendly throughout my visit. My order included a large order of Oxtails, rice & peas, cabbage, plantains, 2 cooked beef patties with coco bread and 6 frozen beef patties with coco bread. It was about 25 minutes before my order was ready. The Oxtails were tender but cooked in a gravy that wasn’t appetizing. The rice and peas offered a variety of vegetables that aren’t normally included and there were 3 sliced plantains placed atop a generous amount of rice & peas. The restaurant had a constant flow of customers. At least five walk in customers ordered either the beef or curry chicken patties. The best part of my meal was the beef patty and coco bread. There’s a sign at the counter which reads… No returns and no refunds Could it be partly because of the gravy?

Authentically prepared and flavored Jamaican delights. There is limited staff so prepare to be patient if you want some delicious food but it is worth the wait. Order your fish plates in advance of arriving if you desire to dine-in because it is cooked fresh to order and takes time to properly prepare.

My family tried this establishment for the first time and its official. This was a another TikTok disaster unveiled. For starters, we ordered online to have DoorDash delivery and the oxtail plate we purchased did not specify what sides came with the oxtails so I ended up ordering double sides and being charged for them. Secondly, the quality of the food was horrifying at best. We ordered the oxtail plate with rice and peas and cabbage, also a side of jerk chicken, and an extra order of plantains. The oxtails were somewhat tender and swimming in a pool of what tasted like brown water with absolutely no flavor. The rice and peas tasted just as flavorless as if they were cooked in the same swamp water as the oxtails. The cabbage was average at best with little to no flavor as well. The jerk chicken was a dry joke with no punchline, not even a hint of the grill and no jerk sauce whatsoever on the dried pieces of chicken. The cabbage was average. Was little to no flavoring and the plantains were under ripe and overcooked. Not a one good plantain in sight. I struggled to give this restaurant two stars that felt a little too kind , however, don’t let my review stop you. Check out their menu, visit their establishment and let me know what you think. Don’t take my word for it. As for me personally, me and my family will not be supporting this level of poor quality Caribbean food it was actually worse than Golden krust which is pretty low on the fast food. Totem pole of Caribbean food.

I ordered the large curry chicken plate and had more bones than chicken as you can see the pile of bones in the picture…the cabbage tasted funny— not like the authentic Jamaican food.

We went to MBY for dinner to celebrate father day and bday with my husband. We had the curry goat, bbq chicken, and jerk chicken. We also tried the mild beef, spinach and cheese and curry chicken patties. All the dinners come with cabbage, rice and bean and plantains. The goat was cooked perfect with a stew like rendering. The bbq chicken was falling off the bone and so was the jerk chicken. The rice and beans have a fantastic flavor and the plantains were soft and cooked just right. The patties are to die for flaky on the outside and delicious on the inside. This was our first time and will def NOT be out last. You have gained a customer for life

Looking at the reviews I thought this would be nice.. but its by far the worst Jamaican food .. oxtail was chewy.. and only got two small PC. The cabbage was and rice was dry. Maybe the good was old im not sure but for $20+ a plate well I should be ale to eat something not the case.. waste of time and money

I enjoyed the food at this restaurant. I ordered a fish roti. It was made at the time of my order so It was about a 30 minute wait. It came with cabbage and plantain for about $16. It was delicious but I wasn’t a fan of how the food was arranged. The curried fish was inside the roti which made it hard to eat. Also, there was a lot of peppers and onions in the curry which I had to remove because I only wanted the fish and the sauce.
